There are 100, 200, 300 (and so on) - level courses. What do the hundreds digits signify, if anything? Of course, this is college and there's a greater mix of fresh, soph, juniors, and seniors in any given class but can it be said that freshmen usually takes the 100s, 200s are geared toward advanced freshies or soph, and so on and so forth, or is that a completely incorrect assumption? Can someone clarify?

Can anyone answer please?

from what i can tell, 100s are more broad subjects - intro classes, and as you increase specificity, you go up to 200s, 300s, etc.

you are NOT limited in the sense that freshmen can only take 100-level classes, sophomores can only take 200-level classes, etc. (freshman year, i took three 200-level classes and a 400-level class) often, however, you will be limited in the sense that some upper-level classes WILL have prerequisites, classes that you haven’t taken yet as a freshman. (ie: you want to take a 400-level class but that class requires you to take a 200-level class first - you’re a freshman and you haven’t taken that 200-level class yet. so you need to take that first before you take the 400-level class.)
