I was under the impression that they meant that you were responding to the post above, but someone told me that they meant that you were being sarcastic. Can someone help me out here?
It varies. To me, the ^^^ marks mean that I’m referring to the immediately preceding post. That gets confusing if someone posts sooner than I do in reply to that post, making unclear which post I was replying to. I usually quote a little bit of the previous post if I want people to be sure what post I’m replying to.
