I'm currently a Sophomore at my high school and I have a serious interest in attending Wharton. However, I do believe that I lack in the EC area.

The only EC's I do as of right now are:

Academic Challenge
Harvard Model Congress - Elected to Represent China at the "G20"
Peer Tutoring
I do not do any sports.

The only real test score I have so far:

Sat Bio-M 770
I have around a 4.2~ GPA out of 4.6

What do I need to improve? I'm not the smartest in my grade but I'm definitely not the dumbest.

You seem so determined, I’m sure you’ll get in.

College admissions want to see that you have a definite passion that you pursue to the fullest. So Wharton kids, I suppose, should take every economics class offered to them both in and out of high school. I guess you should demonstrate your business skills in other ways, by starting some kind of store or working at the school store.

A really good article I read said admissions officers are looking for things that would make them go, “Wow, I could never do that.” Grab every opportunity that interests you–

Don’t join clubs for number, but because you find them interesting. Stick around and bully club members into giving you a leadership position.

Thanks for your response, I really appreciate it. I was going to cofound a FBLA at my school but that seems to have died down… Hopefully I can get it up and going.

I plan to do AP Stat and probably at least AP Calc AB.
If I do AP Micro, is there a point of doing AP Macro? Are they completely different. I was planning on doing one of those over the summer.
What other APs do you guys think the people at Penn want to see?

Yes Micro and Macro are quite different. My school offers Mic/Mac–two APs condensed in one school year. I myself would definitely recommend taking both because they directly relate to economics, but I’m not applying to Wharton.

Calc AB doesn’t hold as much weight as BC does.

And I hear it is strongly recommended you take the SATII Math…the harder math (Math 2 right? Never took it myself). So do take it .
