i remember AdmissionsDaniel said something about getting a "surprise" at the end of April. What do you guys think it will be?

probably ANOTHER one of those JHU stickers... i have about 5000 of them now.

but seriously, i hope it's a sweatshirt b/c i really want to buy one but the one i want costs $60 :(. it will probably be a t-shirt (but i already got two for free when i visited... so here's hoping for the sweatshirt... im sure they are going to ship that 3000 miles for me.)

^^A sweatshirt would be nice, but that can be a little costly.

If you guys applied RD, you'll probably get one of those bumper stickers. Not the JHU sticker, but an actual hopkins window decal.

if it's really another sticker, i wouldn't call that a SURPRISE. i hope at least it's a class of '10 t-shirt.

probably not clothing though, unless they somehow knew everyone's sizes?

please no more stickers :(

how about a free-size tshirt? haha. im trying to be really optimistic here! =D

Did Admissions_Daniel admit to this on CC? Or was this through the hopkins interative forum/blog?

I think when he said surprise he meant the very in depth admitted students website.. maybe? That's what I thought.

Could be, but the OP says at the end of April. I believe the admitted site was opened last month some time. Eh, whatever. The surprise can't be too surprising. Maybe one day we'll find something unexpected in our mailbox. Until then, we probably shouldn't get our hopes up.

maybe we will get our jhu email address early? possibly?

This is a great thread. Ha Ha Ha.

No it is not clothing.
No it is not early email addresses.
And no it is not the greatest of surprises.

To let the cat out of the bag, in the next couple of weeks for enrolling students we will launch a new Message Board just for the members of the Class of 2010. We did this last year and it was a great way for the enrolling freshmen to meet each other, share interests, and also get a lot of questions answered about what to buy, how to prepare, registering for classes, etc.

Class of 2010 - stay tuned for an email and blue postcards.

Hahaha. I thought it was going to be an iPod! Like Duke last year.

ha ha ha - free ipods or a message board. Wow, what a let down.

Do you think students accepted mid-May from waitlist will get the surprise to??

I don't want to be left out!

Duke gave out iPod last yr? are you serious?

wow, that's amazing!!

i bet they also hand-weaved a t-shirt for each applicant with the word "gullible" across the front ;)

The enrolled student message board will be provided to each student who chooses to enroll at Hopkins. If a student is admitted of the wait list and subsequently enrolls, than they will be provided with the web address for the board.

As far as the iPods and Duke, it was actually just the 2004 enrolling class and part of a major initiative. They got some great press out of the program -- read more here: http://www.duke.edu/ddi/history.html

i wish we could get an orientation t-shirt prior the orientation - perhaps AdmissionsDaniel can send them via mail to us during the summer? lol jk.

im so desperate for JHU gears

Did you see the whole Cornell thing about students gathering together to design new school merchandise becuz other ivy-ers were calling Cornell : the "barn" school or what not?

If we get to JHU and see that some of the clothing/merchandise seem a bit out-of-date and unattractive, let's get together and do the same thing! It'll really boost up school spirit and PR.. loll

Well with the opening of Charles Commons comes a new bookstore and a much improved campus store -- so the JHU paraphernalia will be much better.

Plus, there are always great T-shirts:
