I will be attending orientation 7 which lasts from August 29-31. Classes won’t begin until September 7. Does anybody know what we will be doing during the week between move in day and the start of classes?

Welcome Week, there are all sorts of activities for freshman, just be sure to sign up!

It says that welcome week and its events are required but BC also makes us pay $30 for it. Am I reading this right? I’m curious as to what we will be doing on Wednesday after orientation 7 has ended as well since move in day is on Thursday.

We are going to orientation 7 and I was told that for this session we could move in that Sunday early morning. I was told we could arrive there by 9 am and check into housing. In addition, they told me that there would be helpers to lend a helping hand while moving and that it could be done before registering for orientation.

Yup, you have to pay for Welcome Week in order to attend the Boat Cruise among other events. I know some kids who got on without paying, but I would definitely recommend buying a ticket.

I just bought a ticket to be on the safe side.

Welcome Week is optional, but basically everyone does it, so it’s good to get tickets. I was at Orientation 7 last year, and the move-in days were a little awkward because I didn’t know anybody and there weren’t any real planned activities, but I know last year they offered free tours of Boston led by faculty members, and I went on one of those. If they do that again (I got an email about it sometime during Orientation) I would definitely recommend it… great chance to meet new people and get off campus for a while- trust me, you’ll need it, with Orientation and Welcome Week so close together!

For class of 2012 we had three days after move in until classes which were all a blast. Everybody in the dorm got to know each other really well and we went around exploring campus and newton. The welcome events were good to give the days and nights some structure though. Be excited, those are amazing weeks you will never have again.

You just chill and enjoy those few days before classes start and you realize how much work college is. Those are the best days, you are free from everything (except BCPD).
