I woke up this morning listening to a news story on my radio about a cadet at West Point who was just arrested for stealing his classmates books - and then selling them. Here's a news story about it - and an earlier story about the same cadet being named Athlete of the Week only a few weeks ago.

What do we make of this? How do we explain something like this?

I actually had a cousin who is a Class of 2005 graduate. During her second semester of plebe year her roommate was arrested and separated for stealing various things from my cousin and her first semester roommate. West Point is not a perfect place, and sadly, not all cadets are followers of the Honor Code. My cousin warned me of this before I got there and expected everyone to be perfect.

On another note too, seeing as almost everyone on these boards has read "Absolutely American," my cousin was a plebe in G4 and she knew all of the seniors in the book when she was a plebe. In fact, George Rash was her platoon leader.

What puzzles me is the fact he was caught SELLING TEXTBOOKS.
Who would have bought the books? Are there more cadets involved?
Someone had to purchase the books - which implicates them or else
they went to the board with the facts. A lot of questions come to mind.
Were did he lose a keen insight with Honor? It must have started
with little things, and lead to giving up so much for a few dollars?
Be on guard with your decisions; evaluate and review your actions. I
remember an idea given to me: Imagine a small replica of your mother
sitting on you right shoulder dont disappoint her!
