...in terms of intellectual life, prestige and grad school placement?

great great great school, in all aspects

Its a fantastic school, in a beautiful town. The winters are cold, but as far as academics are concerned, I'd say its definately the best school in Maine. Its also pretty tough to get into. I don't know much about grad school, but they could probably spit some numbers at you if you called the admissions office.

I'm going there next year and let me tell you if you had asked me last year where I would be going to college I would never have said Bowdoin. I only found out about it this past summer and since then every day I like it even more. I originally wanted a medium sized school near a big city but now I'm going to an EXTREMELY small school near a big city. Its just an awesome place. I looooved both of my overnights and the accepted student day sealed it for me. The atmosphere of the campus is just amazing.. everyone is so friendly and I know like people at every college say that but I've been to a bunch of colleges and I didn't experience such an atmosphere anywhere except Bowdoin. I would definitely look into it. Its not all that well known and often when I tell people I'm going to Bowdoin they kind of look at me with a blank stare and say oh thats nice.. where is that and yea thats annoying but you get used to it because the grad schools and good jobs know its an awesome school and most importantly.. I know its an amazing school. Hope that helped. If you have any other questions about how it compares to any of these schools just ask-- Boston College, Cornell, Duke, Dartmouth, Colgate, Bucknell, Hamilton, Georgetown, Williams, UVa (i applied to all.. visited all.. and researched all pretty thoroughly).

Bowdoin is a great school with friendly, well-rounded students who do very well (top 25) in grad school and job placements. My only reservation was it's pretty small and I wanted a school at least twice the size of my high school.

highschoolsr, what did you think of Williams when you visited and why did you choose Bowdoin over Williams?

i really like bowdoin. if i hadn't been so stringent in a school that offered my major, i would have applied to bowdoin.
