What do you bring to class?

why are your schools (sarorah, redbricks etc) so strict? i see absolutely no harm in water....or in gum even....its better to have your students chewing gum than snoozing through a whole lecture...

I'm seriously going to bring my pillow everywhere for my senior year 2nd semester after the teachers send in all my materials :)

"why are your schools (sarorah, redbricks etc) so strict? i see absolutely no harm in water....or in gum even....its better to have your students chewing gum than snoozing through a whole lecture..."

lol if sleeping is an option at your school then maybe your school is just really lax? I wish I could do that sometimes....

Sleeping isn't an option at my school, or any real school for that matter...what I meant is that many lectures are inherently boring for people who really don't appreciate academics ( your average student...CC members don't count). Chances are that they just doze off etc, complain about being hungry thirsty and whatnot, so I just think it is easier for the school to relax on some ridiculous rules like no water and some students might just get to concentrate in class IMO....

Yeah, the blankets by the way, at my school anyway, aren't actually to fall asleep with, but just to keep warm with. I live in northern New York on the eastern end of Lake Ontario, ie, a very cold and very snowy place for a good third of the year typically-- and for some brilliant reason I'm sure, my school doesn't actually run the heat. It can be January, -10, whatever, and the air conditioning is still on. It's ridiculous...

lol we can't even have heavy coats during school, forget blankets.
no kidding, once the heat didn't work this year, and it was very cold outiside, and everyone who wore their coat to class had to go back and put it in their locker, due to some school policy that the jackets are too bulky or something.
I really don't know why our school is like that; I still carry around confiscatable (?) items but just keep it hidden and turn off the volume, and some teachers are not as strict, but you take the risk if you want to get caught or not.

Several kids at my school are excited to leave and go to college, probably because they know most colleges don't have these silly rules. I want to go really badly too, because I know there is more freedom. I'm tired of the boundaries, at school and in my house
