What do you buy with your laptop?? (accessories)

A bag obviously..
A laptop mouse (wireless or wired??? what's the advantage of wireles??)
A laptop lock (any recommendations?? or should i buy one at my school computer shop??)

and any other accessories??
thx =)

headphones if you're going to have a roomie

id go a wired mouse because strangely enough, a wireless mouse with a laptop can make it more of a hassle.

don't forget a usb key drive and external harddrive if you want to download

wireless mouses can be a big pain. batteries and stuff. depends if u wanna bring mouse with u or leave it for dorm use only.

I don't use a mouse, and I go to a school with an honor code so I don't use a lock either.

I have a wireless mouse...it is a lifesaver...it isn't as bad as people are portraying it to be.

Wireless mice can be a blessing...if you're willing to shell out the bucks. If you're at all concerned about price...go with wired. I personally think the benefits aren't worth the cost, so I use a cheap Microsoft wired laser mouse...like less that $10.

Get a bluetooth wireless mouse. Works great.

Sometimes an external keyboard, like Logitech ones, which are really comfortable for hard printing, is a real blessing.
Headphones with a mic is also a good stuff.
I am also planning to buy either an USB or a PCMCIA TV-tuner. It is a better deal than a TV-set, because you can easily record shows to your hard drive and watch them whenever you want. Plus it is light and comfortable and fits your jeans pocket, unlike a TV-set.

to add to the stuff already mentioned:
speakers! sometimes you'll want to play your music loud (for get togethers, etc), and your highest laptop volume just wont cut it. you can get decent speakers at any electronics store for about 20$.

10$ here, 20 $ there, 15 $ elsewhere etc etc. Then, you look into your pocket and voila! No money!

hey rytis, you found any nice usb tv tuner for a laptop so far? im trying to find one... but it seems that every single one has mixed reivews on how good they are, so i cant decide at all... hahaha

I am an international and now live in Europe, and when I came to one of the biggest computer stores in my homecity, I haven't even found a tuner with NTSC support, so I am going to buy one once I am in the US. As for vendor, I think that Leadtek is really a decent TV-tuner vendor, so I think I'd buy one of those.

how about a keyboard silencer?
im thinking of getting one, depending on the price.

A table lock.

I have a table lock but I don't use it. I have a mouse, and nice external speakers. You'll also need ethernet cables to connect into the internet. Even if your room has wireless internet (mine does), the wired internet will be faster, so when I'm sitting at my desk i'm always hooked in.

what's a keyboard silencer? (other than I assume it makes the keys quieter...)

Here's what I have on the go...at home I have more set up...

A mouse. You can get a big one or a little one, but the full-size is more comfortable.

A mouse pad. If you've ever had to set up a laptop on a picnic table you know why you need this.

Ethernet cord. In case of a lack of wireless internet.

Headphones. I have trouble doing some work without music.

A keyboard cover. This can double as a mouse pad sometimes. It sits over the keyboard so when you close the laptop your hand crud doesn't ruin your screen. Marware is the best choice in these.

Power brick. I take mine if I know I'll be out for a while.

On my old laptop I had a second battery and a phone cable in there.
