What do you discuss with the regional director of admission?

^ what the title says.
How do you show your interest? and how do you get a sense of whether you are qualified from them?

ask them about them, not about you...

I agree with adidas - to show them your interest, you should ask them about Penn! :) It's obvious, but I'm going to say it anyway: don't ask questions that you could easily get answers to by e.g. visiting the site just for the sake of asking questions! If you're going to ask something, make sure it's something that isn't along the lines of "how many SAT IIs do I need?", and that it is something more along the lines of "I'm really interested in field X, but could you please give me an idea of what sort of things do we do in course Y?" (Although you can find that out by using the website...)

As for finding out whether or not you're qualified, it's probably better not to give them your scores and CV and say "here, please chance me!". If it irritates CCers, it'll irritate the regional director! :)

I've thought about this a lot because I also want to impress my director, but I've had to resign myself to the fact that I'll find out if I'm qualified or not when I'm accepted/rejected! :D

thanks alex, any more ideas?

Good luck with the schools you're applying to. :)

If you are truly interested in going to Penn, you will think of some way to show them eventually.

Attend the dog and pony show when it comes to your area next year and get a feel for the school. Sign the register. Talk to the Penn rep at the show. That should give you something of substance as to how to present yourself to the school.

Definitely talk to the rep. if you get a chance to! That way, hopefully you'll be a person - not just a name with stats! :)

I'm only applying next year, so I haven't really had much to say to Penn yet, but as I'm looking at the Huntsman program and I'm an intl. student, I had no clue what the required "one semester of college calculus" is equivalent to, so...I emailed them and asked (and got a useful reply, by the way! lol).

Unfortunately, I don't have any specific ideas about what you can ask...just look around the website and if there's anything you want to know more about, email your director and ask for info around that! :D Ask them about things you want to know about - that way you aren't being irritating and transparent in your 'attention-seeking ways' (which they could be construed as if you ask questions just to keep in contact with Penn! :))

Good luck and I hope this is of some use! :p

I never met my regional director. I missed it when Penn visited my school last year andan adcom for a different region came. IMO you would have to be really exceptional (or exceptionable) for an adcom to remember you. Don't sweat it.

Thanks,
i am intl too, but how did you get an email? the website only has phone numbers :S...

To #3:

When I talked to Stetson, he asked me for my stats and chanced me hahaha. (I'm not legacy, I just happened to stick around after an event somewhere and spoke to him).

^^^ what did he say? I would never want stetson to chance me, he would be like...are u serious? (I got deferred though :D)

Also I talked to my regional director the other day, it was weird talking to the person that single handedly affected my decision and read my application. I didn't talk a lot cuz I didnt wanna mess up and say something and she take it the wrong way lol

To newbyreborn: on the Huntsman website, if you look around, there's a page where it gives you an email address you can contact if you have any more questions...maybe it was on the FAQ page? I don't know about the rest of the Penn site though...

To dopamine: cool stuff!! :D I wish I could get someone to ask for my stats and chance me...lol

wat did stetson say? wait, arent u the penn hater who wants a puck fenn shirt?
