Title says it all.
I think it'd be nice to have a realistic view of the schools that I'm applying to, so, I'd love to hear about the "bad" things about CMU.

have’t been there yet but from the meal plans and what I hear about food, it’s not very good

About 20% of the campus is entirely socially incompetent and stay in their rooms all the time playing the Starcraft 2 Beta. It’s cool though 'cause the other 80% are fun to socialize with.

I disagree that the food sucks, I really like the food. But the CulinArt workers are pretty rude and angry people. Carnegie Cafe has good food but terrible service, for example.

In an effort to keep class sizes small, it’s sometimes hard to get the classes you want, especially in popular courses such as introductory CS and HSS elective courses.

The weather sucks. Maybe this is just because I come from a sunny place. But it does.

Grade deflation. Got a B+ in Intro ECE? Haha, sucker! It’s a flat B now.

That’s really all I can think of.

@completelykate

I must argue that the grade deflation for some is grade inflation for others. Have an A-? Congrats! You now have an A!

That is a truth. I guess I’m just one of those bitter B+ students. (CURSE YOU 89.4% FINAL GRADE, CURSE YOU)

We’ve got no exciting collegiate sports to watch.

I went to one single CMU game. The school made the national tournament for Division III soccer, so it was cool to get to see a game with real implications. They lost the game I went to, but had they won that game they would be in national quarterfinals.

However, Pittsburgh does have something to counteract this. In a few months, Pittsburgh will be the only city in America to have only professional sports venues built in the 21st century. If you like the NFL, NHL, or MLB, Pittsburgh’s got some of the nicest places to watch the games. (My favorite part is that the MLB park is actually considered by many to be the best in the entire world and the tickets are also cheap.) You can also go to Pittsburgh Panthers games.

Ugh. Our sports matches have gotten to the point where people will GIVE YOU FREE CRAP just to show up and watch, because we’re really that bad. I had forgotten about that. Nerds suck at sports unfortunately.

awe, how’s basketball there?

FYI, there was a local high school football game on a Saturday at Gesling stadium, and that place was packing! I joined them to see what was happening… I thought the players were going to be robots

Admissions is not answering my email!

!!!

Dorm room is way too hot during the summer (it you take summer courses)
another complain about dorm room, too dark and too old
