What do you do at discussions?

What do you do at discussions? Can you skip them?

skipping depends on the class. in my experience, they’re pretty useless b/c people who don’t really know whats going on are vocal in them. I usually sit back and daydream for a sweet 50 minutes :D

What you do at discussions:

-discuss lecture material
-discuss weekly readings
-discuss upcoming exams, papers, projects
-introduce material not covered in lecture
-take quizzes
-turn in assignments
-group activities
-daydream (as mentioned)

Listen to answers.

Sometimes ask questions.

Depends on the class. You may have real discussions in social sciencey type classes where participation counts. In science classes, though, discussions are usually not more than 5% of your grade, if they count at all (physics, bio, etc).
