What do you do to relieve stress from school?

I'm a senior and I have senioritis! I have been so stressed out and it's been week 5 of school. It's so bad that I'm relying on caffeine to stay awake, and when I don't have caffeine, I fall asleep studying for my tests! I work on my homework from the time I get home until 10:00 at night. I didn't take my ACT's yet and I don't have much time to study for it. It's in October and I'm freaking out because the highest score I've gotten on the practice tests is a 24. My lowest scores are in science and math. It's getting to the point that I'm starting to cry and I'm having chest pains. I don't understand Physics and nobody else in that class knows what's going on either. Trig is killing me because the tests are weighted the heaviest and we have to memorize all these trig functions and get quizzed on them. I'm pulling a C+ in that class. I'm so used to getting straight A's, and now I'm not. AP Euro is a beast..if you have this class or had it, I'm pretty sure you know what I'm talking about. This is my hardest year.

So my question is "What do you personally do to relieve stress? and "Do you have any advice for me about the subjects I mentioned?"

Sorry if I sound all panicky but I have never been this stressed out before unless it's midterms or finals.

Any advice or answers to the subject are greatly appreciated.

Ah, sounds like you're having a tough year. Don't worry, it'll get better.

To relieve stress I usually

1) Play frisbee/football/baseball with friends
2) Listen to music - any kind of music that you like
3) Read funny websites - like, maddox.xmission.com, Tucker Max, despair.com, and other random stupid joke sites.

From past experience I think stress is more the result of pressure you put on yourself than pressure put on you from external sources. A physics test is a physics test. Even if you have to cram for it, you don't have to stress yourself out over it. Just realize that it's not that big of deal. No class has enough significance in the grand scheme of things to make your life miserable.

sex and booze

ryan's pretty much got it down

Well there's always that.

Run a couple of miles around campus

one of my friends/one of the smartest guys I know explained the three pillars of life
1) sex
2) drugs (alcohol and weed)
3) money

I play videogames and just try to lose track of time.

I listen to music and talk to someone. Or I play guitar and get really angsty...surprisingly, I haven't broken any strings yet.

It's okay!

One of the first things you need to know is that some of the things you're worrying about are out of control (such as the time until you take your ACT). Instead of actually panicking, use that energy to utilize your time and try to STOP yourself before you get into that negative mindset or it will spiral and make things worse.

In regards to getting help for math and physics (assuming you've already went after-school for help and before school and also during a lunch period and stalked math tutors at school):

Do you know of any math/phy resources around your neighborhood? For instance, I go to my local CC to focus on my homework and they have tutoring available for math and science students. So, I stay there and ask for help everyday. It has helped greatly. Your school's math department should have information about programs for tutoring - if not, try your local library and any local colleges for extra help.

It's still early in the school-year. Make sure you know how you can help yourself before your grades (which will get better if you work smartly) can get any worse.

I have AP Euro. Do you use Cornell Notes or make outlines? It helps me when I study for it. Try and hold study sessions with your friends or possibly try teaching them the material as review (I'm serious - it's quite helpful).

I scribble. I rip paper and paste it on a sheet of paper and try to make images. I drink tea. :o

Take care of yourself!

to relieve yourself is really to manipulate yourself into feeling better. so theoretically, you could lay down and clear your brain in a few minutes, but not too many people can get naturally high, so I recommend, like other users, drugs and/or destruction. if you don't feel comfortable doing drugs, take a drive to your nearest cliff and throw an old television set or a prized possession that can break easily off it. if you are high, the feeling is even better.

i come here to CC

sex, drugs, internet, parties, random dumb stuff w/ the guys (paintball a police car, pool hopping, drunken camping trip)

Cow-tipping!

uh... you guys are joking about the sex, drugs, and booze thing right? I would be really surprised if you did do all that and manage to get above a 4.0 GPA.

I'm being serious here, you guys... makes whiny face It's getting really bad. ( I told my bio II teacher that and said "it's bad" twice and he said that means your stress is double bad!) lol... :)

I would suggest not worrying about your practice tests so much; when I took practice tests, I got scores that were MUCH lower than what I got when I took the real thing. I'm not sure if this is true for you, but when I take practice tests, I'm not very focused - lunch seems more important than getting number twenty-four right, sometimes. The real test, however, puts me in a frame of mind much more conducive to doing well. Anyhow, good luck! :-)

Hmm... when I'm stressed, I practice my violin like crazy, do math, read a book and drink some of the yummiest tea I can find, or have a panic attack...

Oh, and about the trig. What are you doing right now, and has your teacher taught you any of the tricks to make it easier to remember?

I feel sorry for you. I work on homework for a max of one hour per night.

To relieve stress I play on my typewriter. I write stories and poems. Unlike my computer, it never "misprints" anything, and it's just somewhere where I can type out whatever I want. :)

I don't get stress from school :)

Crunch bars filled with caramel...lucky me, I don't gain weight easily! I also chat with my friends online about everything except school, take a long shower, take a nap...sighs don't worry about it too much, we only have to suffer for one semester, as opposed to previous years. Second semester, it's senioritis to the max!
