I’m in school full time and I’m a business owner and I just don’t have the energy to stay up and study. What do you guys drink or take that’s legal. I have ADD and I feel like my Adderall doesn’t do a thing. I’m just curious to see how you guys do it when your up all night studing?
I try to limit my number of all nighters. To get energy I usually drink shots of espresso and/or energy drinks.
Regular sleep will improve your ability to study better than any drink or drug.
I am pretty much in agreement that eating right, exercising, getting enough sleep, etc. are key components to have as much energy as possible to be able to study much better. Alas, not everyone lives the perfect life where we all have enough time or money to do all that. I unfortunately take nothing nor drink anything because last time I did, I truthfully and honestly felt like I was gonna die.
Taking Adderall for long periods of time can lead to desensitization to the drug, which if that’s what you’ve been doing, you might need to ask your doctor if you may discontinue for a few weeks.
I’ve heard that the drink gfuel - not an energy drink but helps with energy and focus - has been helpful, and at least I’ve not heard of nefarious effect.
Getting up and taking a walk/exercising can be pretty effective.
Go to bed at a reasonable time. 5-6 Cups of coffee w/breakfast. Coke/w lunch and the late afternoon. Workout, eat healthy. That’s what I do.
I would not recommend working out in the early morning. In my experience it just makes me crash and burn after lunch.
I would NOT recommend 5-6 cups of coffee with breakfast + coke for lunch! Drink water (lots of it), and limit caffeine intake or your body will get used to it.
My current routine (freshman here) is waking up at 6:30am three times a week to get to the gym for a 2 hr workout before classes. Thankfully, three days a week I don’t have class till 11:15 so this routine works pretty well. For me, hitting the gym and having a good breakfast are about the only things I need to have a good day. Also, at least 6-7 hrs of sleep always helps
I am in AFROTC so I wake up around 4:30 every Tuesday and 5:30 every Thursday and Friday. Exercise really wakes me up but also shuts me down midway. Try to avoid energy drinks and move towards coffee. I drink 3 cups a week. I try to avoid caffeine and go to sleep early. Obviously with hard courseloads getting lots of sleep can be difficult. In general, I’d say coffee is the “healthier” option but in moderation. Stay hydrated with water.
@MYOS1634 - I missed you! Welcome back!
So I tried Chi seeds in my water bottle and it helped. Caffeine always gives me stomach rot and I hate the shakes I get from energy drinks.
