<p>Yarr. Am bored, procrastinating, just to the SAT yesterday, BLEARGH.</p>

<p>So...yeah. Chances at Ivies (and equal caliber), JHU, UVA, U of MD (College Park), William & Mary, and VTech? Or do I suck more than I thought?</p>

<p>Ethnicity: Asian (F). Durnit. Makes this process even more painful.
Residence: Small city in backwaters VA
School: Public
GPA: 4.32 UW, 4.0W (UW might go up, cuz I'm a junior; projected 4.47 by senior year)
Rank: 1/...I forget. 400 or so.
SAT I: 2200~2300 (projected) (might retake)
SAT II: None yet... But will take Math II, Bio, Physics, maybe more. 700s projected.
AP Exams: 5 AP Euro, projected range 4-5 on others.
Planned APs: AP USH, AP Calc AB, AP Stat, AP Bio, AP Chem, AP Physics AB (C is not offered), AP Lit, AP Comp Sci, AP USG, possibly AP Psychology/Enviro/Music Theory</p>

<p>Here's where it goes downhill.
EC's: Violin, projected 8 years
Ecology Club, Secretary in junior year, possibly President or VP senior
Creative Writing Club, possibly an officer senior year
Academic Team, but may drop due to busy schedule.
Volunteer 100~200 hours, library, Children's Museum, possibly others (I HATE doing community service just to buffer my app, so I don't)
Irregular work at a party planning/catering service
Possible study at Merck Stonewall Plant (cuz my dad works there, LOL, and is trying to arrange something)
Possible regular work at department stores, etc.
Possible irregular work as "model" (LOL) at local company for webpage...ACK.</p>

<p>Awards:
-Possible NMSQ crap.
-Loads of school crap.
-Possible Olympiad junk (hey, not crap!).</p>

<p>I 5ux0r5 at sports like a vacuum/singularity/lollipop.</p>

<p>I'm not really all that devoted to anything. Bad, I know. Been getting into Ecology Club, though.</p>

<p>The irregularity of the work is due to the nature of the work, not my lack of devotion, just as a note.</p>

<p>Wow, after reading all the threads here, I'm feeling depressed. And stupid. You people sure know how to quash a girl's hopes. This list seems woefully paltry.</p>

<p>Though, the majority of those programs (like NIH, etc) aren't accessible here, the city in nowhere-in-general-land, surrounded by farms (and the occasional town).</p>

<p>Why couldn't I have been born Eskimo (or Anasazi, LOL) or something? Anything but Asian?</p>

<p>...There are cows wandering across the street from our school. O_o; I kept getting distracted yesterday while taking the SAT.</p>

<p>Okay, first off you're not an average student, matter fact your above average because your # 1 in your class. Average is when you are 50% in your class. Your EC's will hurt you because top schools really care about that in order to pick from many well qualified students. Stay with your EC's that you have, and try to become president of Eco-club because Ivies like leadership. I'd say Ivies are a reach due to EC's make sure your SAT II's are good. You probably have a decent shot at JHU but they really like leadership as well. Idk about the other schools, but I would have to say most of them are high reach to high match.</p>

<p>I hate most ECs, personally, and can't devote myself to them. It sucks, but it's me. Ecology club is growing on me, though. Lack of opportunity here really hurts, though.</p>

<p>JHU is a "reach", whereas UVA is a "high reach"? Muh?</p>

<p>Actually, they are both high reaches. JHU weighs heavily on EC's, so does UVA. Also, your EC's are typical Asian EC's which will hurt you. The average H.S. GPA for JHU is a 3.6 and the average for UVA is a 4.0. The princeton review says that for John Hopkins "make certain that your personal creditials, essays, recommendations and EC's are impressive". For UVA it says that "Even many Virginians regard trying to get UVA as a feeble attempt. The Competition doesn't get much more severe, and only the most capable and impressive candidates stand to be offered admission". Therefore, JHU is a reach and UVA high reach. Chillin til 08 is right.</p>

<p>you're still junior. START a club. I just found out about college applications this past summer (junior this year also) and realized i had no EC's at all, or leadership. Fastest solution? STARTING my own clubs. So far i've started two, joined 3, joined a non-for-profit organization helping kids in africa, sent application in for provincial youth parliament, and am meeting with the principal of elementary school to discuss creation of a sports program..</p>

<p>clearly not average. in the 2000's for SATs is awesome. wow...i feel pretty ****ty about myself if ur saying ur an average student. i got a 1650 on my sats (average/below average) ...u think ur average now?</p>
