I do homework, I study, I exercise, and I still have free time in my hands. What productive things do you guys do after you're done with everything?

TopCoder all day err day

I procrastinate a lot and my professors assign work long before it’s due, so there’s always something on the horizon to be done, but if it’s not due tomorrow, then I have free time today. I usually just sleep, go to Starbucks, and mess around on the Internet. Maybe go for a walk or something, but I can barely get myself to be productive for school, let alone outside of it.

I rarely have free time. I have to balance a job, high school, dual enrollment, theatre rehearsals, and other youth programs I’m involved in. In my winter phase, on Sundays when I’m not doing anything, I usually just watch Netflix and bake cookies, haha. My friends and I go out, usually shopping, and have slumber parties (which also consist of watching Netflix and baking cookies). But in the spring, when the sun comes out, I tend to be more productive by working on shows for school (theatre, dance, and visual arts), reading, cleaning and exercising.

I hang out with friends, do volunteer work, draw and paint, look up stuff for fun, kind of normal things (except maybe the latter, most high schoolers probably don’t think learning astronomy is fun, let alone would they do it voluntarily). All of my EC’s are fun, but I guess that isn’t “free time”. I study for the Science Olympiad during my free time too, but it’s actually pretty enjoyable. I used to write stories, but I shifted more towards painting and art a few years–I even joined the art program at my school. I consider my sports exercise (track and lacrosse), and during off seasons I just go for runs with a friend. And of course, I use the internet, listen to music, and sleep (yes, for fun).

@detpeace I’ve always thought about trying out for a play at my local theater, I’m thinking about doing it this summer. How is it? And how hard is it for someone who’s never acted before to get a role?

@CallmeC I’m an art major at a small performing arts high school. During my freshman year, I took Advanced Theater Arts. I did well at acting but I was too shy to perform in major shows. So, as an art major, I was still involved in theater by set design, makeup artistry, and costume design. Fast forward to senior year, I finally have the confidence to act. I was casted as a lead’s understudy and I was given a minor role without any experience!

Getting a role will depend on your abilities and how competitive your local theater group is. I say go for it! Dont be like me- making my acting debut three months before my graduation. Haha.

Theater is great, whether on stage or behind the scenes. I met some of the most amazing people through theater and they’ve taught me to be confident, fearless, and above all, be my true myself.

Try out! Good luck!!!

Done with… everything?

This is a real THING?

I thought free time was just a myth.

Lift weights, browse reddit and other forums, watch videos on worldstar & YouTube, play video games.

The life of a second-semester senior.

Free time is something that’s new to me as of senior year, so I’m basking in it.
On weekdays, I bake, write, play video games, & watch dumb reality tv shows.
On the weekends, it’s pretty much the same, though I do like to hang out with friends or attend the occasional party.

Haha almondjoy7 ^^^ I agree.

I fill my free time with activities. I’m into music, so I’ve been teaching myself jazz improv & theory and guitar. I volunteer by teaching flute and piano at the local middle school band program.

Dance, yoga, art, reading, creative writing, hanging out with family. I’ve been letting myself relax a lot more recently and it feels nice.
