What do you guys do in your NHS (National Honor Society)?

Nothing? Everything?

Nothing: 1
Everything: 0

ORLY?

Not even volunteer? Not even meetings are held to at least BS some purpose or feel good?

Nothing: 1
Everything: 0
Pointless Meetings: 1

K good. heavy weight off my shoulder

We actually have a pretty active NHS. Lots of community service. There are quite a few committees. We run a blood drive, book drive, collect toys around Christmas, a couple committees raise money for various causes, help out with luminaria…those are just a few that come to mind. If you want to be a member and do very little, you can get by with the minimum ten hours. But there’s a lot available if you want to get involved.

Lots of schools may have a joke for NHS, for the most part ours is pretty legit. There are some pretty smart students who applied and didn’t get in, you don’t really do much like key club but there is a good deal of stuff you have to do including fundraisers, volunteer work, etc. (to not get kicked out)

My NHS has 600-700 members, so we have A LOT of things to do.
There are about 12 committees, and you need 100 points from your committee and from mandatory events to get credit. And the students in my NHS are pretty hardcore, as soon as a chairperson sends out an email the spots for the events are filled up in an hour. >_>
BUT! When we graduate, we get a pretty tassle on our hats. :]

same, or at least like a little pin or something. either way, we get unique distinction for being in nhs

^^ 600-700 members WTH. The requirements for NHS at my school doesn’t even allow a number close to 1/10 of that…

Anyways…we do a lot of helping out around the school. Things like Open House (like today), Adopt a Family, volunteering at concession stands during sports events, helping out with graduation, awards ceremonies, helping out over at the middle schools, helping out with events that we host (IHSA is an example), and more. It’s like a manpower club. When some place needs help, we send some people over to help out.

Also, tutoring. But yeah, we get a lot of criticism for rejecting the top GPA students b/c of their lack of ECs. The club even proudly states that we denied the #1 and 2 rank students, which I just see as a willingness to get criticized, but w/e.

Volunteer! We have to have 30 hours haha.

40 hours of glorified community service of our choice. We sell candy bars to raise money for senior scholarships. Seniors in NHS graduate with white gowns and caps instead of blue ones.

Basically pointless if you’re not a senior.

Meetings and some community service, tutoring, etc.

60 hours community service to get in the club, 12 hrs done each semester in the club
pointless meetings as well

Pointless meetings, a few service projects occasionally.

We get gold cords for graduation. It’s the only club at school that gives cords (you can also get silver ones for a certain number of community service hours).

In all likelihood, TRUFFLIEPUFF, you won’t have to do anything once you’re in NHS. Community service opportunities are limited and optional, and you’ll attend useless meetings and vote for officers. At least, that’s how it works here. Everyone in the top 20% of my class was invited to apply, and almost all who did were accepted.

5 hours a year of service XD

no meetings. picture in the yearbook. 3.5 gpa.

mine wins for slacker-est NHS

No service required for entry, or during…no officers…yearbook picture.
3.25 gpa.
^i think I win. (sadly)
