What do you guys think about Purdue?

<p>The first thing I heard about Purdue (Purdue Uni - West lafayette) was its "great" engineering school. Any thoughts about Purdue's engineering school? Compare it to Umich's any1?
Its weird though, because its engineering school is ranked in the top ten, yet the school itself is like ranked 60th and the average SAT's aren't THAT high (1000-1200 approx.) and the average HS GPA isn't that high either (3.4). Is the engineering school overrated or is it just the best part of the whole university?</p>

<p>The out-of-state tuition isn't so expensive, which is good for me :P
The under-grad pop'n is HUGE though T_T</p>

<p>engineering is rock solid; other than that, it's just an above average state school with a good football program.</p>

<p>just as a general state school I don't think Purdue is that great, but they are well known for their engineering, so if that's what you're interested in, I would definitely consider it as an option.</p>
