What do you guys think?

So me and my friend were thinking about how it gives you a good hook to be a certain type of minority. So....I was just wondering how they ever check that you're who you say you are. I mean, if you say you're Native American for example would colleges ever actually check that you're telling the truth? Or do they just assume you're who you say you are?

Also do most colleges like first-generation immigrants? Especially ones with pretty good scores?

I have no idea. Sorry.

Then why post? ^

And no, unless they see you or check up on you they won't know whether you're telling the truth or not.

I've heard stories of people lying and getting caught (as in, plausible rumors, not bogeyman stories). But yeah, you'd probably be more likely to get away with it then not.

Not that you should do such a thing, of course.

It's like asking "oh do colleges really check if you were actually the president of NHS and not the VP?" Nope, they probably don't check, but if you get caught, your admissions offer could be rescinded, or you could be expelled if already enrolled depending on how major the lie is. It's a good idea not to think about lying in the first place.

Doesn't really matter if you get caught, it is a completely dishonest and jerk move to make. Fine to be curious about what they'd do, but if someone actually lied like that, that's just stupid.

Hope it was a thought as you indicated and not something you and your friends decide to do. It's not worth getting accepted and being unable to perform to your potential in college because you are constantly watching your back thinking you may get caught. Additionally, I believe ethnicity is printed on HS transcript. So unless the prank was pulled during hs, it may be a stretch being one ethnicity in HS and another in college.
