My audition is in two weeks and I was wondering what to expect.
I read on the website that you sing two pieces then there is sight reading and they test your aural skills.
Can someone please expand on this a bit more? Like how much you have to sight sing and stuff like that?
Thanks!

If it is anything like the testing I had to go through at the beginning of my freshmen year, they will start off with easier sight reading and get more difficult until you ask to stop. I don’t know if this is how they do it at regional auditions but this is how they did it during orientation for conservatory freshmen.

I did my regional audition for jazz guitar, but i imagine the same thing might apply. i was shown some charts to read (melody and chords) and i played them as well as i could. for other people i heard him go through scales, play notes, identify chord qualities etc. i think it’s kind of random but expect sight reading, ear training at the least

If I recall when my daughter did a regional audition, there was also a music theory test. They might have changed because it was a few years ago.

the music theory test is online now, the deadline is feb. 15
