What do you know about these Schools (For example what do they emphasize on? Do they have a good humanities program? A good arts program? etc.)

Episcopal High School
Hotchkiss
Andover
SPS
Exeter
Choate
Mercersburg

Also, if you know of a school that is near a metropolitan city, has a good english/social studies/humanities program, with cross-country and swimming, and a good music program, please let me know!

Hey i know a little about each of these schools so…
EHS is right outside of washington D.C. So really good political and business opportunities there. Mccain went there and it has a bit of a rep for being a rich, white school but i dont know if thats true.
Hotchkiss is now part of the HADES acronym, but it is known as being a second tier school. Ive also heard that to fit in you kind of have to be a “perfect prep”.
Andover is always competing with Exeter to be the top bs in academics. It is an extremely vigorous school and very pressured for some people, putting the most students at ivys out of all the bs’s.
SPS us known for high academics and giving the students lots of freedom to work independenly so kids have to have a certain self-driven mindset to thrive there. Lots of senators kids and those kinds of kids are known to go there too.
Exeter is known as nerdiest, most booksmart school right along with Andover. Also very rigorous and pressuring. From what i’ve gathered, most kids choose andover over exeter.
Choate is also second tier but many think that it should have a better rep. Very diverse and the least preppy out all of those you have mentioned. For many kinds its kind of a love it or hate it school not really in between.
I dont know anything about mercersberg. I think that EHS matches your criteria thr best. Btw these are just my opinions and info ive gathered so other posters- dont get all angry :)

LOLZBABE, do you actually go to boarding school ? Your incompetence is very apparent. If you don’t know what you are talking about shut up. Are you just the latest reincarnation of PrincipalV? I notice your account is fairly new and you only have 15 posts …Your’re just re-packaging second rate information you heard on an internet board and pretending you are an authority on the subject when you don’t know anything. Have you even stepped on ANY of these campuses ? I HIGHLY doubt it. Don’t listen to her she is basically bull through and through. Go tell JFK and Henry Ford II that there schools are second rate.

Would disagree with your characterization of both Choate and Hotchkiss as second tier - that’s definitely subjective; but admittedly have S at Choate so am biased. Circlemidnight, feel free to pm me if you want more details about Choate; great performing arts, math and science programs, + JV cross country usually takes the Founders cup every year. But all the top BSs have superb academics, and usually good music programs as well.

Actually im going next year both my parents and 4 of my brothers went so i do hve a little knowledge on the subject. Iv actually been in all if these campuses exept mercersberg so dont make assumptions about me when you dont rly know what you are talking about. Thanks.

I second Choate’s theater program. One of my friends at Hotchkiss is really into theater and says that the guys at Choate are great. That being said so is Hotchkiss take a look at both see what you like,

Forgive me, but i hardly believe you. If your brothers went to boarding school then I am surprised they did not tell you a thing or two about what boarding school culture really is all about. The way you talk it seems like your information is exclusively from CC not actual boarding school experience. Unlike you I ACTUALLY attend a boarding school and ACTUALLY have family that did like-wise NO boarding school affiliated student or legacy would talk about boarding schools the way you do. Your comments really are vapid. It is precisely because I am a real boarding school student that I can say with absolute certinity that you are a fake looking for attention and are none other than PrincipalV. Secondly like I thought you did not go to boarding school so as I said you don’t know what you are talking about so take some of your own advice and stop talking. Which school are you going to pretend you go to ? Exeter ? Deerfield ? What are you going to tell us next your brothers are also Noble Prize Winner’s and they highly recommend Exeter’s science program but told you Andover was sub par when it came to chemistry. And let me guess your other brother is a NASA engineer and he told you that Deerfield has the best physics program so you know your stuff right? So where did your father go to school? Exeter then Wharton then Harvard’s my guess. And what’s that I hear? Oh, he works for Goldman Sachs now? Wow ! I hate liars like you. You have no life. You know nothing. Stop posting your crap and vitriol on these boards they ar meant for people who are actually trying to impart useful advice. I hope you change before boarding school (I’m just playing along with your lie to make you feel better - i think you probably got rejected everywhere you applied and are now bitter) or else you will be ridiculed.

loll @ kafkareborn
How do you know how every boarding school student will talk? I can say with absolute certainty that your post makes no sense whatsoever, and makes wild assumptions with no foundations in fact.

Not only that, but you’re being incredibly rude. “I hate liars like you.”? “You know nothing; you have no life.”?
What the heck? Do you always overreact and make crazy assumptions based off a paragraph or so of text?

IF Hotchkiss is “second tier” I don’t get why they send a **** ton of students to TOP colleges, each year. If Hotchkiss is second tier, I don’t get why they produce they have the highest number of billionaires (even you aren’t deft enough to say that one can become a billionaire without smarts). They also got number 1 in speech and debate (or mock trial, I forget), because they are able to support their arguments, unlike the ******** you just posted.

You can hardly say he is overreacting when some kid who has her head stuck up her ass talks like an alum, omniscient of every thing going on in every school. I just love it, guys. Hotchkiss just joined the “HADES” group.

Hmmm, idk, it might have to due with a difference in what you find desirable in a school. Like caring more about ballet or diving rather than debate or mock trial. Perhaps it’s not nearly as important to someone to make money later in life, as opposed to being in a diverse, interesting community.

Actually, it’s pretty obvious that he’s overreacting. I can express my point without ad hominem, and I would expect other people to do the same. To make ridiculous assumptions and rude comments, like saying they got rejected everywhere and that they have no life to just a simple paragraph of opinion is most definitely an overreaction.

fif,
H’kiss is going to be solid this weekend. Wilson is going to be there and he’s looking strong. On the other hand, this string of posts is a bit weak… People, calm down. A simple statement and a bit of opinion by LOL does not deserve a complete “freakout”. Not saying that she’s right but can we please calm down a bit? Thanks.
