World Class Faculty and Student Body the faculty is fantastic and very accessible. Top notch fellow students also add immeasurably to the learning process.

Size at 13,500 undergrads it is the perfect compromise between a large state university with its endless opportunities and the coziness of the smaller Ivies. There is an irresistible vibrancy to the place

Diversity of Disciplines the seven undergraduate colleges provide for a unique milieu of viewpoints and methodologies.

Location Ithaca is gorges. Cornell and Ithaca provide for endless cultural activities and fantastic outdoor opportunities (skiing, hiking, kayaking, sailing) are just a short car ride away.

Weather believe it or not, I think the weather in Ithaca is great. Three beautiful seasons. A spectacular fall, a sensational spring, and wonderful winter.

wasn't the winter in Ithaca not bad this year? and i'm hearing 60s coming up for the weekend.

yeah this weekend is supposed to be really warm.

The people. Both the students and the faculty are really cool, really smart, and just a great time.

Environment/facilities. there's so much to do on campus, ranging from cliff diving to lectures by Bill Nye (the Science Guy!) yeah, that's right...ON campus.

Bredth: you can become one of the best hotel execs in the world or one of the best engineers in the world; the buildings are just across the street from each other. In between those disciplines there are over 4000 courses in a plethora of majors ranging from business to music, and then there is a fabulous masters and PhD program right on top of that.

Population. wharf struck the nail on the head with this one. I see so many people i've never met before every day, but at the same time, I always see several people from very small communities here, like my hall or fraternity (around 50 or so kids each) in my classes or as i walk across campus every day.

greek system. it creates a great campus-centric community in terms of parties and upperclassman living. definitely not just a bunch of womanizing drunks...

sorry wharf...the weather is nice but i think I would pick cornell's greek system in some warm and beachy climate before I would pick some random average greek system in ithaca :p

60s=really warm? My my, I might need to reconsider Cornell...

(Warm for me = mid 90s, yum!)

World class faculty and student body. I know i stole it from wharfrat, but this really is what i love most about Cornell. I'm blown away by how prolific my professors are in the "real world" ... it's rather daunting to realize that my organizational behavior professor's new book is 5-star rated at Amazon.com and that it was rated "one of the 15 best business books of 2005" by some ultra-popular business magazine (i forget the exact title). It's also wonderful to be surrounded by 13,000 other Cornell undergraduates. I transfered from another top-50 college, yet the student body is so much different at Cornell. Some of the most amazing things i've learned have come from random 2 am conversations with my best friend. The majority of students are brilliant, hard-working, and driven. This in turn pushes me to work my hardest, and I wouldn't exchange it for anything.

Cornell-supported activities. Listing all of these would probably create a monster post and will upset the mods. I'll put it easily: 700 or so student clubs that will cater to everybody's needs. To list a few random ones i've taken interest in: student government, herpetology club, intramural ice hockey, kayaking, and rock climbing. There's also stuff ranging from vegetarian club, meat-lovers club, political organizations, athletics, volunteer clubs and opportunities, bowling on campus, campus poker tournaments, movies on campus, faculty dinners ... you name it, it most likely exists (or you can just start it yourself!). I belive it's the most fun ON campus that any college provides.

Opportunity. Cornell students are hooked up, plain and simple. For those who explore opportunity, there's a plethora of internships, externships, job opportunities, research opportnities ... the works. The alumni network is very strong and will gladly open up their doors to help a current student with internships or full-time jobs. I will likely stay at Cornell this summer and pursuit a research topic of my choice under the guidance of a professor of my choice. Oh yeah, this will be paid! Cornell is also highly regarded by grad schools of all sorts.

Bredth. Read sparticus' post.

Location/weather. I figure i'd roll two into one for this category. Ithaca has all 4 seasons. The summer is glorious with fantastic weather; fall is absolutely beautiful; winter provides the perfect atmosphere for snowboarding (an activity more cold weather cry babies should take up); spring is great as well since it means the arrival of summer. Ithaca itself is a very diverse town that is very college-student focused. There are also some fantastic restaurants just minutes from campus. It's the perfect collegetown.

Pretty much everything was stated before but...

Perfect Size

Last few schools with a strong Greek Life presence

Variety of Courses

Students from all over the world - internationally recognized

Great alumni network

Shameless plug..
