What do you like the most about NU???

hey all you happy(or not so happy....you definitely have something better in store for you!)....
what was that ONE thing that made you choose NU as YOUR school?
or in some cases, what were your reasons???

People who didn't get in ED don't necessarily have something "better" in store for them, but a "better fit." If an applicant wasn't right for the school, the school ends up not being right for the applicant. There are many great places to go, but "better" than NU? Not necessarily.

I am a freshman. For me, personally, there is nothing not to like. I LOVE it here. Maybe I'll sing a different song in January and/or February when the wind chill is minus double digits! haha.

It's a great place to go to school! Love it.

i like northwestern because it's the best of everything without being too extreme in any way. if that makes sense.

smart, but social. bordering chicago, but in a smaller college town. on a beach, but you get seasons too. challenging, but gratifying. etc.

Are there any special programs in Northwestern that you guys enjoy? Like any particular clubs or teams?

My girlfriend. :)

Haha. I like that ;)

But seriously?

In terms of things that make me the happiest, absolutely.

-distance from home... far away that I could be independent, close enough that I could go home whenever I want. I live in a Chicago suburb.

-ability to do applied research (fieldwork, practicum, internship, independent project, apprenticeship) through the School of Education and Social Policy with a specialized focus (double major in Weinberg)

-Reputation in Chicago (recognition by commoners and employers alike). Just wear Northwestern apparel, and you'll see the difference in how people see you. I'm not saying this should be the case, but it is. I feel it's perfectly fine to wear Northwestern apparel. Just because you happen to attend a prestigious school doesn't mean you're flaunting when you wear that school's apparel.

-location on the North Shore (I love Evanston but also the Argyle area and sometimes Belmont on Chicago's North Side). Reasonably close to Downtown (~50-min ride to the Loop, which is not a lot once you get used to being in/near a city)
