I was accepted last week, and I've been interested in knowing-- why did you decide Penn? If you already attend, what do you love about it?

The campus, the city, the people, the distance, the opportunities, the freedom.

I chose Penn because I wanted to experience something new. There are so many opportunities in Philadelphia. Not only will I get a great education, but I will be able to go to sporting events, clubs, clothing stores, and different restaurants.

locust walk. and the fact that they have the most social engineers i have seen anywhere.

Everything under the sun. The only problems I have with it are the lack of an applied math major and the fact that we don't have the most attractive student body. You can't have it all though.

we don't have the most attractive student body

I always hate when people say this. I've visited every Ivy and a few other top-25 schools, and Penn definitely has more attractive women than most of those places. I remember Brown, Yale and Williams having some pretty hot girls.

It can't compare to places like ASU, USC, the SEC as a whole conference, etc. etc. We make up for it with the whole academics and prestige thing though.

Penn doesn't have the most attractive student body!!! I agree with Venkat! Compared to Arizona State, Florida State, and other schools like that... Penn is crap.

Compared to middle-of-the-road state schools we're pretty ugly, but I think we're pretty good compared to other top 20 schools except Duke. It doesn't really matter. It's not like an average-looking guy/girl has a better chance of dating someone hot at ASU, USC, etc. People mix with their own here, just like anywhere else. You're just missing better scenery as you walk around.

There seems to be a correlation between the quality of a school and the attractiveness of the student body.

dude why would you compare penn with
arizona state...

It's really not that hard to understand. Let's say 15% of the population is smart, and 15% is what we would consider attractive. Not many people are both. It's just simple statistics.

statistics ftw

Everything, save for the (gradually dwindling) population of natives.

Gentrification ftw!
