I just got deferred from Princeton(I still haven’t gotten the letter and my counselor called the school to find out a couple days ago) and I’m not sure what I can do to maximize my chances for RD.
I got high enough scores on my SATs so I didn’t take anything else I couldn’t do any activities cuz I had my finals after I applied early(oh, I live in Korea) so nothing like that will change. I have no APs so I thought about writing why I couldn’t take any and I’m sending another recommendation from a Princeton alumni but besides that what else can I do?

The popular wisdom is to write a nice but not too wordy letter confirming how much you still want to attend, have your school send any additional awards and honors, get great grades for first semester, and hope for the best. In my experience this does not necessarily work, but there are lots of anecdotes on various CC boards that suggest that it sometimes does. I think the msot constructive thing to do is make sure you have applied to other great schools, including other reaches as well as appealing matches and safeties, so that you have the maximum number of choices in the spring.
