What do you not like about Cornell?

this is pretty random...but how long of a walk is it from Hasbrouck (sp?) and do u have to take the bus? if so, do transfers (gt's) get passes for the bus? just curious, cuz i'm interested in the transfer center for next year!

The weather and the girls are the only two legitimate problems with Cornell. They can be big problems though so if you are deciding between a state school in warm weather and Cornell, think carefully. If it the choice is Cornell or another ivy, then I would definatley say come to Cornell.

1) Essays
2) Hot and humid summer/early fall
3) Physics 214's problem sets
4) Nearest airport that doesn't eat your wallet is an hour away.

Thank you all for your responses.

I would like to know your thoughts on competition for premeds, degree of difficulty in maintaining >3.8 GPA, grade-deflation, and advising.

I hear that premed program at Cornell is a killer!

When you say it's a killer, you're right on the mark. People literally die because of premed at Cornell. If not killed, their dreams are shattered and they cry in the middle of tests. Sometimes during a test, one may urinate, defecate, cry, eat cheeze, and internally combust because it's that dang stressful here.

One girl's doctor made her drop orgo after she started experiencing chest pains and anxiety attacks from the class.

There's also a girl in my HIGHSCHOOL who collapsed in the library because of stress during midterms. There are always people who have trouble handling stress and hard work. Don't let that one girl norcal mentioned distract u from ur ultimate goal! But yes of course it will be stressful to some degree. You wouldn't have been accepted if Cornell didn't think you could handle it. I'm sure the rewards for working so hard are immense. GL in ur choices

I didn't mean to imply that orgo was difficult or unfair. In fact, it strongly resembles med school classes (which is why it's required for all med schools): lots of material to memorize but not particularly difficult to understand. Hence, you don't have to be intelligent to succeed in orgo. Just some old fashioned hard work will do.

"internally combust" hahaha...that's comforting to know :)

Just so people won't get the wrong message, let me add that I was being sarcastic. It's not that bad here as long as you put in serious work. Of course there are some days when I want to just quit, but they are the exception, not the rule. Don't let your fear of difficulty keep you from coming here is what I'm saying.

Ahh, this place is impossible to get to. Everyone has horror stories about trying to get in and out of this place (particularly the Ithaca airport and the Syracuse airport) if you're from the northeast and you drive/bus you're okay. Oh and -25 degree wind chill. Those were the days I went home and complained to my mom for hours (but I'm from the south...soooo)
But these things would not have changed my decision. IN FACT, when I came to visit (by myself during Cornell Days) I experience my own little Ithaca airport nightmare and it was 13 degrees in April and I still decided to come....so yeah.

My only problem with Cornell is that they waitlisted me.

c'est la vie.

It's ALWAYS cloudy. You hear this before coming, but in all honesty, from October to March, if you wake up with sun coming through your window, you'll feel strangely happy. It won't be until you get outside to walk to class that you realize you haven't seen the sun in two weeks.

About the airport issue, I recently flew out of Syracuse airport...after an 8 hour delay due to mechanical problems. Lovely. The Albany airport is not bad, though -- not sure how far it is from Cornell.

3 hours avantgarden.
