What do you say if you get a call?

This may seem silly, but for those of you (son/daughter) in the past who have gotten a phone call from the school telling you that you've been accepted, how did you respond? :D or :p or

I mean--what did you say?!

Any of you wondering how you might react if that happens?

I asked my D what she will do if she gets a call, and she had no idea.

Not college exactly, but after my interview with the Artistic Director of the National Theater Institute she told me right away “So, you’ve been accepted, I’ll send you the papers in the next few days.” and I thought she was joking. I said “Oh cool
WAIT. REALLY?” and after I finished skyping I danced a little bit.

I later asked her why she decided to tell me right then and there (they usually send the decisions after a few weeks) and she said “Well, I liked you and I was gonna accept you anyway. Why hide it? I don’t feel the need to hide something like that.”

I received a call like this last week and I didn’t even know that they called accepted students, I was just expecting a letter! Haha, so I can understand where this could cause some nerves for those of you that know to anticipate it.

If it helps, here is a bit on how my call went. I was called around dinner time (I’m in California, so it was about eight their time) by the professor of theatre who had also been my auditor. He basically asked if I had remembered doing the walk-in audition for his school (of course I did!) and said he was calling to inform me of my admission to the school. He then told me the incredibly kind things the faculty had to say about my audition, and kindly reminded me to burn one of the monologues I had done for that audition. He then told me what my next steps were for academic admission to the school and we talked about the cost and how he thought I would fit in and so on. He also really cared about answering any questions I had about the school.

Basically, I would try not to cry over the phone but don’t be afraid to be enthusiastic. Also, have questions ready, be extremely grateful, and have a pen ready to get contact information if you need it. Keep it professional (don’t scream in to the phone, obviously), but don’t worry about showing a little excitement. My auditor ended the call with “pleasure talking to you. Now you can go hug your parents and scream and let them know it was all worth it. Have a nice night.” They get it. :)

Aspiring
what college?
sounds like you handled it well
I am not sure why you have to burn your monologue, but obviously they accepted you despite that fact.
when my D got two separate phone calls from two colleges, she was also calm.
good luck Aspiring!!!
