Do you think college entry tests are a fair source to use in colleges selection process?

Personally for me I have struggled with the ACT. I even have taken a private tutor to better chances. However there hasnt been any sign of improvement after taken the test 4 times. I don't get how schools can put the tests on such a high pedistile when in reality it is just a number given after 4 hours in comparison to 4 years of hard work and extracurriculars.

I visited a lot of Ivy League schools last summer and they said that ACT/SAT scores are important, but they do realize that they only represent a few hours on 1 Saturday morning, lol. I mean, if you score within the range of most accepted students and you have strong grades (“strong” being relative to whatever school you are considering, Harvard strong=3.9-4.0, state university maybe like 3.3-3.5). It really just depends, also a common theme I saw at all the schools is that a low test score won’t make or break your app. Just be strong in the other areas. Best of luck.

ACT/SAT do not only represent “4 hours of Saturday morning” they represent years of mental and logical development, they represent your mental capacity to adapt and engage with knowledge, they represent your brain, let me put it this way if your brain had a brand like BMW or ford the ACT/SAT score is that brand! you are an 1800 you are Hyundai! you are a 2300 you are a Mercedes! I my self am more like VW or how some people call them “wannabe bmw” BUT HEY i WORK HARD FOR MY 1960 SAT!.

but personally I think those test are stupid and a ignorant way to admit students in to collage.
