What do you think about the college application process now that most deadlines for colleges have passed. In you opinion is it more stressful to actually complete the application itself or to sit and wait for decision letters to arrive?

I think the process is antiquated. Maybe someday an applicant will submit one application to a central clearing house that will verify some of the quantitative information. Colleges will pick from these applicants to try to attract them to their schools and then the final application, essay and interview would be conducted live over a secured internet station set up for that purpose at their high school or local college.

The early evaluation process could begin in the spring of junior year to give students an idea of where they stand among peers.

a lot more stressful finishing the actual application. once you're done, you can sit back and TRULY enjoy the last semster of high school. don't think about colllege too much in that time, and instead, have fun (yes i know its a novel concept...)

I saw someone proposed an interesting idea. Applicants to say, the most competitive 50 colleges, would list their preference in order. Their application would start at their top choice and get passed down their order of preference list until a college admitted them. I thought that that seemed like an interesting idea.

Yeah. It's the British system. You list about 4 colleges, and you're accepted to one. Just hope it's your first choice ;).

I think that system sucks...where's the freedom of choice in listing by preference? And what if you change your mind? What if you can't afford choice #4 because it has limited aid, and what if you'd rather not go to college at all, if you're only accepted to your 11th choice school?
