What do you think -- Chance Me.

3.6 UW GPA
IU is the #1 school I want to go to.
Grandpa went, and cousin just got a full ride for fall 2008.
In-state.
Varsity tennis player, #1 singles since my freshman year. Also, play USTA tennis. (I might try and walk-on if I get accepted.)
Hoosier Girls' State.
75 hours of Community service.
National Honors Society.

Worst downfall, got very nervous -- SAT. (I just took them again on Saturday and I KNOW I did really well.)

CR = 470
M= 480
W = 540

It was my first time taking the test, and I always freak out....

I'd really like to hear what you all think, thank you very much.

If you did better on the SAT like you say, then you are in.

I really hope so!
Worst comes to worst, what if they didn't improve that much?
Others please share your opinions!

I don't know if you'll be accepted if your scores stay the same, but you'll probably score higher, since you feel a lot better about Saturday's test than the last time you took it. Think positive!

Did you apply already?

Yes. On November 28th, I got the e-mail that said they have received everything and my application is in the review process. So it will be three- six weeks to their decision. How many weeks in did you find out about your son, right?

With the grades you would be in with no question. The fact that you have a legacy and are in state should help a lot. I would say you have a good chance. Are you retaking the sat's? It is possible that they might defer you.

I did retake the SAT's -- just last Saturday. This is really killing me though. Have you been admitted to IU. If so, when? Also, in what time of the 3-6 weeks range did they tell you?

If your SAT's stay the same then you might get accepted right away, or you might get deffered than probably accepted later, I highly doubt you will get rejected with a 3.6 Unweighted, (I got a 2.85 unweighted and I got in right away)

Oh I really hope so. :|

I am so worried. I hope it's the first one you said.

Ugh this college process really sucks! I hate waiting!
What do you think my chances are?
SAT: CR660 M680 W640
GPA:3.4 Top 8th school in NY STATE
Scholarship for 20000
Decent ECs 200+ Community Service hours
Jumped a Year in math
9 APS

solomonenator, I would say you are very likely admitted based on test scores and GPA.

IU places greatest weight on GPA, rank, test scores according to the Common Data set info. Next they look at the rigor of your high school schedule. Things like essays and legacies matter very little at IU.

Yeah I was accepted back in early october. I applied in september and found out in about two weeks. My guess is that with the number of applicants applying that you are facing around a 6 week decision period unfortunately.

Is Hoosier Girls' State going to help me out at all?

Ok I'm a high school senior and I'm thinking of applying to Bucknell University - what do you think my chances are??

In my high school, grades are given as follows:
A = 4.0 = 95+
A- = 3.7 = 90-94
B+ = 3.4 = 87-89
B = 3.0 = 84-86
B-= 2.7 = 80-83
C+ = 2.4 = 77-79
.....and so on, It's pretty standard

My UW gpa is really low, only like a 3.37, weighted its only 3.56

My high school is a highly competitive public - 100% go on to college, there is virtually no dropout rate, we are ranked as one of the best public high schools in the country

SAT I: 720 Verbal, 650 Math, 770 Writing
SAT II: 670 World History, 760 English Lit

I have taken 5 years of high school math/science (started in grade 8), almost all classes taken were adv/honors

AP Classes taken: World History, English Lang, U.S History (5 on each)
Senior year classes: AP Psych, AP English Lit, AP MacroEcon, AP Stats, AP Italian...and forensic science

Extracurrics: Italian Honor Society grades 10-12 Secretary
School literary magazine - grades 9-12 Assistant Editor and staff writer
school tutoring/community service club for AP English kids - grades 11, 12
Latin Honor Society - grades 9, 10
did varsity fencing for a year - not sure if I should put it on app

Volunteer Work: tutor kids about 1 hr a week, 80 hrs over summer working as a teacher assistant at summer school/camp

Awards...DAR Good Citizens award, National Latin Exam Honor Award, AP Scholar, High Honor roll throughout high school if that counts....thats it

So be honest do I have any chance at Bucknell, I think it's probly a reach school for me since my gpa is low, altho I took the most difficult classes possible

essays and teacher/counselor recs are all good, my school doesnt do rank

^^Molly - perhaps you should post this in the Bucknell forum?

yeah I reposted in the forum sry
