What do you think my chances are at these schools? Thanks!

Hey, I'm new to CC. If you could please share your thoughts on my chances at the following schools, I would really appreciate it!

*UNC Chapel Hill (I'm lucky to be an in-state student. It isn't very difficult to get in... I've seen tons of unqualified people, especially males, get in)
*UVA
*Duke (In-State. Legacy... my mom attended)
*Vanderbilt
*Princeton (hey, why not ask?)

Demographics:
*White. Male. Both parents attended college.

I have chosen to not take the SAT; I find the format of the test to be confusing and misleading. Anyways, here are my /best/ ACT scores (I've taken it 3 times):

Composite: 32 (<--- best composite, not superscored)
Superscore: 34.0 (I know this doesn't matter much)

English: 35
Math:33
Reading: 32
Science: 36
Essay: 10

Extracurriculars:
*Eagle Scout
*Founded the Student Human Relations Commission (SHRC) at my high school
*Student Ambassador for NCCJ (National Conference for Community and Justice)
*Founded Pulsewyre Custom Computers, LLC (local computer and computer repair company; it is registered through the State of North Carolina)
*Varsity baseball player (2 years on JV, 2 years on Varsity)
*Member of National Honor Society
*Member of Key Club

I go to a VERY competitive public high school. It has an IB program and offers tons of both IB and AP classes. Here is my transcript. I'm sorry it's so long :P :

Class Rank: 26/400. If I get straight A's the first semester next year, I estimate to be ~15/400 by the time I apply to colleges.

Freshman Year
H. Algebra 2 - A
H. English 9 - A
H. Civics & Econ. - A
H. Biology - A
Spanish 1 - A
PE/Health - A
Sophomore Year
AP World History - B
H. Pre-Calc - B
H. English 10 - A
H. Chemistry - A
Spanish 2 - A
Marketing - A
Summer (online)
H. US History - A
Junior Year
AP Physics B - A
AP Calculus [AB] - A
AP English Lang. - A
AP Human Geography - A
Hebrew 1 - A
Summer (online)
H. Earth/Environ. Science - A
Senior Year Courseload
AP Biology
IB Math HL
AP English Lit.
AP Computer Science
H. Hebrew 3

Essentially, I've gotten 2 B's in my lifetime (sophomore year). I've really made a comeback since then.

Thank you for taking the time to do this! Let me know if there's any other information I should provide that will make it more helpful to "chance" me.

1) your course load isn’t all too spectacular. I don’t see how your transcript is soo long. Your class rank is mediocre.

2) You have a pretty good ACT score and yes, super score doesn’t matter much at all because very little schools will accept it.

3) your EC’s are alright

4) the fact that your mom went to duke will help you a ton in getting into duke as well

If I keep up my straight A’s, I’ll have a weighted GPA of 5.08 and weighted GPA of 3.92. My class rank being “mediocre” is a little harsh for a hopeful UW 3.92 GPA. I know that’s theoretical, but it’s achievable and I am holding myself to those standards.

bump… anyone else?

I have no idea what azn135 is talking about, but I you’re in for UNC (since you’re in-state), and a good chance for UVA. I don’t know much about Vandy, but I think Duke and Princeton are reaches, with Duke being closer than Princeton because of your family connection. Also, your class rank is fine seeing as your school appears to be competitive along with the fact that you have a high GPA.

Thanks, hussainhssn. I agree with you about the GPA part; I’m really not too worried about that because of how competitive my high school is. I don’t exactly aspire to go to Princeton. I don’t see myself there. I just didn’t know if I was even in range. My top choice would either be UVA, Duke, or Vandy.

Lol I was kind of harsh earlier. Sorry about that haha. Your class rank is decent not mediocre. You have a decent chance at most schools you are applying to

You’re screwed for HL Math in one year lol.

You seem to have very good chances at most of those schools.

I’d apply single choice early action to princeton

Let’s throw Princeton out of the picture. Let’s just say UVA, Duke, and Vandy. Can anyone else offer any insight?

I think you’d have a great chance at Duke, mostly because your mother is an alumni. Class rank isn’t that great and your course load isn’t amazing, however your test scores are excellent. Work on your ECs a bit if you have the time. Princeton is a reach, the rest are probably matches. As long as you keep up your good grades, and have a powerful essay, I wouldn’t worry so much about acceptance. You have a good chance.

Good luck! Oh, and chance me back if you have the time?? ^.^" http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1178534-help-chance-me-columbia-princeton-nyu-s.html

You know you’re on CC when someone makes their own company and it’s an “alright” EC.

Sent from my Ally using CC App

@TheJuanSoto: I know hahah. It’s not like a lemonade stand or something. It’s a fully functional legal entity. You would think that would count for something, given that I’ve spent an unimaginable amount of time on it. Check out the website ([Pulsewyre](http://pulsewyre.com)).

Bump… any final advice? I’ll chance back :p

I just want to say how amazing the layout of that site is, and that I would not have known that a high school student made it.

Pulsewyre is quite impressive for a high school student I must admit.

Do you think it will give me a good edge if I can somehow tie it into my essays?

Can I point out that there is a mistake under “We Care?” on your website. Just thought you’d like to know! Terrific website though! If you really want to go to Duke, Vandy, or UVA, I would suggest applying early to one of those schools rather than Princeton because you’d have a more realistic chance at those schools EA/ED.

fortetennis-- thanks! I’ll fix that mistake!

No problem. And yes I think it gives you an edge, and definitely work it into your essay if it’s something you’re passionate about because it’s certainly unique and impressive!
