What do you think my chances are?

Hi, I'm an African American female and resident of Florida. I reaalllyyy want to go to UCF, it's my first choice. I'm a junior in the IB program, my schedule is as follows:
AP U.S. History- A
IB Math Studies- A
AP Biology- C (May be able to pull this up, but I doubt it)
Pre-IB Spanish 3- A
IB World Geography- A
AP Psychology- A
AP English Lit- A
I've taken: AP World History, English Pre-IB, Geometry Honors, Pre-IB Biology, Spanish Pre-IB 1, AP European History, Algebra 2 Honors (took Algebra 1 in middle school), Chemistry Pre-IB, Spanish Pre-IB 2, AP Human Geography, and AP English.
Throughout my highschool career I've taken 4 AP exams and gotten 3's on all of them except for 1, when I got a 4. My grades are pretty fair except for my freshman year where I kinda screwed up, especially towards the latter end where my grandmother was dying and the trauma caused me to totally blow on my exams, do you think if I used the application essay and explained this as well as to retake the two classes I got C's in, UCF would be willing to over look that? Anyway, I've had loads of community service (as a requirement for IB) and was in band, on the soccer team, on the volleyball team, and a part of the english lit and photo club, I also will be joining the national honor society very soon. IDK what my unweighted and weighted GPA is, but i got a 23 on the PLAN (pre-ACT test) test and a projected score of 1630-1950 on the SATs. What are my chances of getting in this school? I would like to be in pre-med and major in biology or anatomy and human physiology, or whatever since I hear your major doesn't matter too much as long as you take the pre-med track. Also, will UCF factor in my AP elective courses when recalculating my GPA, or what? I'm applying to FSU, Howard University, UF, and University of Miami as well, so input on those college and possible acceptance would be great too! Thank you for taking the time to read this :)

I’d say if you get on the upper end of your projected SAT score (1800-1950") and keep those grades up, your chances are near 100% expesially since your a resident as well as African American. FSU’s admission standards are nearly the same as UCF so everything I just said oes for FSU as well. For UF and Miama you would really need good sat scores. Your grades are there jus the sat scores have to be high also. As for Howard, just don’t go. I am an African American male coming from northern Virginia so I’ve been on Howard’s campus a lot for various random things and I would never go there. Like it’s cool and all but the overall quality of Howard just does not live up to any of those Florida schools at all.

Thank you for your input! I’ve never been to Howard, but one of my mom’s friends attended and she went to medical school and is an OB/GYN now, which is what I want to do as well. Is the quality of education not so good? Is the campus unattractive? Are the students rude? I’ve heard there is no experience like an HBCU college experience so that’s why I’m applying, sort of as a back-up, and I refuse to attend FAMU lol.

Haha yeah I also hear there is no experience like a HBCU…My dad (40 years old) went to Howard Law and my aunt (25 years old) went to Howard Undergrad lol. Well to my, the campus is in dire need of renovation. Most of the buildings are old and rickety, the dorms are EXTRA small, and I’m not trying to sound booshie but the students are mad ghetto. Like I’m cool with a little bit of ghettoness but most of the students are like “Yo-I’m-straight-out-of-the-hood-in-SouthEast D.C.” ghetto. Its a little too much for me lol. And according to my relatives, the professors and education was okay, just not as good as it could have been. Also, some of their classes have been loosing their accreditation… But on the flip-side they also told me they had the time of their lives while they were there! So if your willing to put up with a little institutional nonsense, you can have a lot of fun there  My thing is, you’ll probably end up having fun no matter where you go so just pick the best college you can get into :stuck_out_tongue:
With that said, I applied as a pre-med major at UCF and got in with a 3.8 GPA, 1880 SAT, 28 ACT, and a major extracurricular that set me apart from other applicants. They gave me a $40,000 scholarship (10 grand per year) for out of state students. So yeah I think you should be fine getting into UCF and you should get some scholarship money as well!

Have u visited all the other schools besides Howard?

Ooo ok I understand! Hopefully I do get that scholarship money, I’ve only been to FSU and UCF, unfortunately. I saw them while I was on a (very unorganized) college tour, we were supposed to go to UF and Edward-Waters as well but that did not happen.
