I'm considering Philosophy as my major in college. What do you think?

Any philosophy majors out there? What does it do to you? Do you regret it? Is it worth it?

I know there's a lot of reading involved- do you enjoy it? What do you think?

Thanks! All comments appreciated.

How much do you think you’ll have to take out in loans to pay for your philosophy degree? If it’s more than what you’d be able to pay off in a reasonable amount of time, don’t major in philosophy, because it’s not going to get you a well paying job.

If you can finance a philosophy degree, I suggest you take a philosophy class at your local community college to get a feel for what it’s all about. There is a ton of reading, writing, and abstract logic involved. Some people like it, some people don’t. There’s no way we can know how much you’ll like it.

I’m going on a course at Harvard Summer School in Philosophy to get the jist. Hopefully I’ll love it because I have no idea what I’m going to study in college otherwise.

My plan is to double-major it in another more “practical” major. Money is not an issue.
