That’s great! Make sure that your recommendations tell them a lot about your desire to pursue English/Journalism.

I hope things work out for you.

My Lit teacher talked to them about my journalism pursuits My original rec did too, so I hope they get the picture. LOL. And thanks. I really hope they want me :)

Wake Forest University- target
The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill- low reach
New York University- target
The University of Chicago- reach
Northwestern University- low to mid reach
Brown University high reach

Your extracurriculars aren’t’ that great and since you’re applinyg out of state for most of these schools, you’ll be up against tougher competition. But, your SATs are awesome! Chance me back at http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1075103-chance-please-ill-chance-back.html

Thanks Violater. Of course I will chance you :)

thanks for chancing me!

Very good chance everywhere. Less of a chance at Northwestern, UChicago, and Brown, just because they are generally more competitive. I think you’ve chosen a good mix of safety, match, and reach schools, and you should definitely get into at least 4-5 of them. I don’t know much about the international schools, so I can’t help you there.

Congrats!

Thanks Sparnette :)

My 2 cents.
Wake Forest University- in

Brown University- high reach

OP is greencard holder, why do people treat him/her as an international student?

I am not sure if I am good at chancing you because I cannot even chance myself, but I’ll try. I do not know anything about UK colleges and universities at all.
I think that you may have a little difficulty with The University of Chicago, Northwestern University, and Brown University because you are not in the top %10 of your class (even though you are really close!) and your GPA is fine but if it is closer to 4.0 it may make a big difference.

Thanks Philly. I am actually a permenant resident, and can get citizenship now. Just have to be able to pay for it. I am NOT an international student. LOL

Thanks Vloria. It should be closer to 4.0 after this year, which makes me excited :)

Thanks Nopsy :)

^If you were to look at the actual admissions statistics, you would likely find that some of the posted chance opinions do not seem to pass the common-sense test.

For example, it is difficult to determine on what basis one might rate NYU as equally a challenging admission as say U Chicago or Northwestern. Or even on what basis that U Chicago is a higher reach than NU. Or why Elon University is not a “safety”, if UNC Chapel Hill is an “in”.

You may wish to consider examining these schools admission rates and ACT/SAT ranges. Or there is a list, which has been helpful to me, that attempts to provide a more data-based comparison of selectivity at these colleges called http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1074266-top-colleges-ranked-difficulty-admissions-4.html which may be useful. YMMV

You have good scores and a solid gpa. Id say you have good chances of getting into all of those schools.
Best of Luck to You!!!

chance me back please

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/brown-university/1074681-chance-me-brown.html

Desperatu: Of course I have already looked at SAT/ACT ranges and admission rates. If I knew I didn’t have a chance at ANY of my schools, I wouldn’t have applied there, now would I? I was asking for opinions on my chances, considered stats are not always helpful. Just because I have the right scores ranges, etc. doesn’t mean I’ll get in.

Van: Thank you. And of course I will :)
