for my common app essay, i answered the first prompt with my interest in attending garage sales, in order to show my curious and quirky personality. Do you think that my common app essay topic would suit well for uchicago? I’m aware they seem to like the unusual essays that show humour and creativity
What you actually say in the essay matters more than the topic. If you’re “curious” and “quirky” it will probably come off. So don’t worry about it, just write about something you find interesting and make an essay you’re proud of, the rest will hopefully follow. Don’t try to write something that you think they’ll like, you’ll sound like a robot.
