what do you think of my list

I want to major in architecture... SAT is around 1200 but I'm taking it again twice.. something like 3.8 GPA (with the hardest classes in my school).. not very many EC though

in order I'd want to go to if I got accepted [and my complaints]:

NYU [its more of an architecture studies major rather than just architecture or something/too expensive]
U IL Chicago [I've heard it is really tough but also not very prestigious/not sure about the whole living situation]
Columbia [too hard/ too expensive probably]
Northeastern U [not any big complaints]
New York I Tech [may be too small for me]
U IL Urbana [may be too rural for me]
U MD (In State) [not as far away from home as I'd like/crap dorms]
SUNY Buffalo [I dont know how to phrase my complaints but they're not that bad]
Illinois Inst Tec [seems like students are unhappy (princeton review)]
U Penn [too tough most likely]
Drexel U [not so sure about this one]
Georgia Tech [too hot in atlanta]
U Michigan [not too sure about this either]
Syracuse [too far away from bigger cities]
Wentworth I Tec [too small maybe/ not well knownn]
Virginia Tech [too rural]
Penn State [too close to home and too rural]

what schools do you think I could get into, should not apply to, etc...?
also, I've only toured UMD so far and definitely won't get to tour all of them

unless you can raise your sats, more ECs would be helpful but I'm assuming your a junior or senior so theres not much time left for that:

columbia- definitely a huge reach. Increase your scores and write killer essays

Upenn-same as columbia

In general I feel that maybe you haven't found the ideal school for your, or at least thats what your side comments to each school seem to reflect for me. Try not to find every little negative aspect of a school, because all schools will have something negative, just focus on the positive aspects.

If you raise your SATs, you may want to check out Cal Poly. It has an excellent architecture program.

http://www.caed.calpoly.edu/about.html

NYU is a bit of a reach too///they are sooo competitive now..so maybe raise your sats

I'm gonna stay on the east side of the mississippi

take the ACT

more advice/thoughts plz

bump...............

If you raise your M + V SAT to 1350+, a lot of possibilities open up. Do you plan on retaking?

Drexel is the place where my aspiring architect wants to go. Basically, its in Philly, and you do the job rather than take classes. Its much more apprentice based. You definitely have the #s to get in so I'd look into it more.

yeah I'm waiting for June scores to come I'm taking it at least once more

thx for the info about drexel

Dude take the ACT, don't waste your time retaking the SAT.

Cornell would be a far reach, but it is a good school to add for architecture.

U of Cincinatti

Drexel is pretty ghetto, and rediculously centered around greek life. Not to mention the overwhelming guy/girl ratio. Sausage Fest U

ithaca, ny is too retarded, ohio sucks too, and I'm pretty sure I'll not go to drexel if that's true.. I HATE greek life..

Don't know how willing you are to change your list, but here are some architectural department rankings by the Gourman Report. Maybe this will help a bit in how you may think of your list:
