What do you think of my major?

I am recently returning to college and I want to major in History. I have tried to get advice from several people and they have all told me that a person cannot do anything with that degree except teach. I don't mind teaching, but I do want to have more options and not just limit myself. I am not interested in business or anything like that. I plan on majoring in History and minoring in spanish so at least I will be bilingual. I am not expecting 60k to start, but I would at least like 30k. Is this doable? What sort of careers do History majors work besides teaching?

I think 30k is doable, if you make sure to do as much career exploration, volunteering, research, and whatever else you can find while still in college. Look it up on google; the first hit I got for “what can I do with a history major” gave me lots of results. Make sure you have a goal in mind, and that you’re working towards it, as a history major, just like any other major, is good for very little if you don’t have a plan of action. The degree is what you make of it.

Good luck! :)
