what do you think of not having lunch hour?

This year as a first year student I have lunch hours. But I’m reading in this forum that a lot of students forsake the hour to take other courses.

I don’t have Study Hall and I feel as though I need this time to sometimes catch up with my work and just breathe.

What are the experiences of people who have this no-lunch (and I assume also no study hall) arrangement?

Thanks for your help…

You should go to a school like mine where lunch is only 30 minutes so you don’t waste as much time.
Sorry, that probably didn’t help you. Hopefully someone with a school like yours will come along to answer your question.

I have a 30 minute lunch and 20 minute reading period with a 7 period class day. I have no complaints. I usually use the reading period to work on homework.

I have a study hall (by choice) and lunch is 45 minutes at my school. I just use it to talk with friends and burn steam and sometimes study or do homework.

No study hall was hectic for me the first quarter because I was still adjusting, and I still find it essential because I’m busy.

Yeah I don’t know how some other kids do without lunch NOR study hall - straight through the day with no break. I admire them but at the same time they make me think a little of robots. hmmm, maybe not a nice thing to say, but really, no break? I want to hear from people who have no lunch nor study hall at all … how they feel about it

I’d take the lunch period. It’s good to have time to relax and it’s also nice to have that time slot free if you ever decide to forsake homework for sleep.

I don’t officially have no lunch hour, but I have virtual school right after my “lunch period”. I just go straight to working on virtual classes, and sometimes even writing essays for scholarships, or doing a little bit of homework.
My lunch is 30 minutes.
I live off Quest Bars.
Honestly, I hardly step out of the building. I’ve never even walked into the cafeteria during lunch times, only for assembly. A really big problem with no break throughout the day, for me, is trying not to fall asleep.

Personally, I think skipping lunch is a huge mistake.

Even if you eat a healthy breakfast before leaving for school-- and most teens don’t-- it’s probably at least a good 9 hours before you’re home again.

Your blood sugar levels are dropping that whole time. You need food. Otherwise, you end up tired and sleepy.

My school places a cap on the number of courses you can take so even if I wanted to, which I never did, it would be impossible not to have a free period for lunch.

I don’t have a free period, but my teachers understand my situation. I usually ask them to buy lunch at the end of the period, and eat my lunch the next period. It’s not that hectic, if you’re close to your teachers. If you don’t have Lunch, you should at least have an off-period. I have off the last period of the day, where I use the time to practically sleep and ponder on the events of the day. It feels nice.
