I am thinking of going to UCI and I wanted to hear from current students about what they like and dislike about UC Irvine. Are you happy with your choice? Any advice for someone considering attending?

Everyone here is pretty happy, I have to say. But more than anything, rather than typing out long paragraphs of analysis, the best thing to do is to visit the campus, since truly, everyone does have their own preferences…But yes, I can tell you a very large majority of the people here, a much larger majority compared to other UC’s, are happy they picked UCI.

In short, UCI is a nice school with a lot to offer in terms of academics. Professors and TA’s are really nice. Above any expectations I had entering college. Honestly, I think going to college will probably be an eye-opening, life-changing, ect. sort of experience no matter where you go. My only advice is probably to join as many clubs as you can in your first quarter…looking back on that easy first few months makes me wish I used more of that free time to get volunteer experience. Now I’m sort of stuck in a horror cycle of work lol.

Visit the campus and make a judgment on your own. I recently graduated from UCI. I love UCI :].

Okay thank you all! I did visit UCI and I loved the campus and the feel of the campus. I just wanted to hear more from people who go/went there

i went to campus tour today as well

it looks really good

what they say about the asian population is true

I really liked mesa better than middle earth

Best laid out campus there is. It doesn’t take more than 10 minutes to get to anywhere on campus. The food is decent, but way to expensive for what your paying for. Oh and tuition is way to high. Dorm costs are a rip off. Meh I’m pretty happy with my choice.

@IOiwiOI Isn’t that every college out there now? But yeah, I’d dare you to find people who are depressed/just waiting for college to end @ UCI…

Yahoowizard, this is unfortunately so. Community college isn’t that bad though.

Everyone is generally happy from what I saw when I visited UCI for a whole day. I’m not exactly the type of person who befriends people easily, but I made plenty of new friends in just one day of staying there. I’m a senior in high school and I’m eagerly awaiting for Fall 2011 to begin ^___^

Yeah, as long as you’re living in the dorms, you really can’t be friendless (unless you tried really, really hard to).

Does anyone know about Wifi in Middle Earth? The tour guide said there is none in Mesa Court.
I’m sorry if my wording seems awkward, but I’m not really techy, & I just know that ultimately, this means there’s no access to internet in Mesa Court unless you bring your own… things to make access to the internet possible. I don’t remember if the tour guide for Middle Earth mentioned anything about wifi.

On my tour for ME, the tour guide said there was wifi basically everywhere except for in the dorms. There’s wired internet, but he said that people bring their own routers and set up wifi.

WOAH.
I just realized how random wifi was in here. Sorry about that.
Please feel free to ignore my post. I don’t remember what I read that made me think wifi would be relevant to this topic.

I love UCI. I feel like it’s one of the most underrated UC’s.

To cacophonous: Thanks for the response anyways!

@msllavore

Lol, no problem.
