What do You Think?

What's upeverybody! So, here's the deal:

Junior at Vandy and my GPA is 3.6

I got a C in gen chem and a C in calculus first semester freshman year. I was a total idiot and simply did not care about my grades. Since then, in my pre-med classes, I have all A's, A-'s, and a B+ in second semester orgo. Extracurriculars and research are fine, nothing special.

So what do you think about my chances of getting in to a US med school? Anyone with experience with admissions have any thoughts? I am KICKING myself for being so stupid freshman year but whatever... you live you learn. The pre-med advisor told me I can get into a school but at the end of the day my science GPA is pretty low because of those two crappy grades.

Word. Thanks in advance

Kill the MCAT. Get great rec’s. Have something to say in the essays and app and do a good job of saying it. But the biggest thing now is to destroy the MCAT.

Thanks for the quick response curmudgeon. Yeah I [somewhat confidently] think I’ll do pretty well on the MCAT based on how I’ve done since the beerfest that was first semester freshman year… good to know that I have a chance.

Somewhat off topic, but while I’m up, how do schools view science classes that were not core sciences (i.e. a-chem)?
