What do you think?

So after applying to many schools, I've brought it down to two schools. I want to major in engineering, specifically mechanical. The two schools are Suny University at Buffalo and CUNY grove school of engineering at city college.

I already know that UB has a better reputation compared to Grove school but I also have to pay more compared to Grove school.
I have 2 options: take out a bunch of loans to go to faraway UB and stay there for 4 years as shown in my other thread

Go to nearby Grove school of engineering for one or two years and then transfer to possible UB/stony brook/ even nyu poly.
What do you think?

I also want to know if most people who go to lets say a community college or a CUNY can transfer into a good school like Stony Brook/ UB/ NYU Poly for engineering or is that all just a joke? Can i transfer after one year or is it better to transfer after two? If i go to grove school, will the classes be the same for the first two years compared to a more reputable school?
If i do transfer, will my credits transfer as well or no? Also, I want to know when do people get internships or do research like during freshmen year or like in their 4th year of undergrad?

can anyone answer some of questions? thanks in advance
I’m more likely going to go to grove school of engineering but can anybody tell me otherwise if i shouldn’t?

there’s no reason you cannot transfer to Buffalo or a like school after two years at CUNY or anywhere else. Coordinate your course transfer in advance with your cc advisor early in your first semester to make sure you’re in compliance with Buffalo and that they will accept all the credit hours. You have to take the lead on this. No one in college is going to hold your hand or look out for you. If a school won’t accept the credit hours, no one would transfer to that school. Going to cc or Grove is a good way to save money and still get a degree. Both schools are ABET-accredited. If you change your mind about your target school, check with ABET to make sure the program you want is accredited.

I would go to Grove over a CC because in NYC CC’s mostly have remedial courses that wouldn’t prepare you well for engineering. During your sophomore year at Grove, apply to several schools of engineering (why not SEAS, even?) but be aware that financial aid is more limited for transfers (no merit at public universities, less aid in general at private universities.)
