Well, I still haven't heard anything new from West Point admissions sp I've been thinking about how I'm going to handle the next few months ahead.

I'm thinking about applying again for next year, because I know that my chances will be much more higher. If I don't quite make it in this go-around, I have a 3-year Army ROTC scholarship, 75% Florida Bright Futures (tuition-only) scholarship, and a $5,200 UCF scholarship waiting for me.

If I get into Class of 2011, that will add another year for me to get my Bachelor's, and another year to become a 2LT. Yet, I will be getting experience that will never be found in any ROTC program.

I still think the benefits would outweigh the costs here.
What do you think? If you were in my position, would you still try to get into West Point?

You shoud do what you want to do, no one can make that choice for you. What do your heart and mind say? Are you willing to give an extra year to academics? You may go to college and love the environment you are in.

Any other academies? Did you apply to others? Did you only get 75% cause you were too lazy to do the service hours... If not, WP probably isn't looking your war. Anyhow, keep up hope, a lot of late appointments should be going out now as May 01 was today so there should have been a number of declinations. Call your admissions liason! Find out where you are on the wait list. Make sure they know how much you want this. Send an email to the Supe! Give it all a shot. **Theres a link on usma.edu, its not too difficult to find.

Do you have a nomination? If not, your already out of luck.

As far as I know, I'm fully qualified with a nomination (2 actually)
75% bright futures because I missed the ACT score by 1 point (!) I do have over 175 community service hours on my transcript.

I had senior recognition ceremonies today, and I got the Gould Science Award -- gotta get the school to record that and send it off to admissions.. plus any new activities, etc.

a whole year?!?! man that sucks!!! thatll be like 1/75th of your life and since you're not going to be at west point then you're for sure not going to gain any life experiences/friendships/education/self discovery/direction!

Take the scholarship, apply next year. If you don't get in then you don't get in. If you do, you dont HAVE to take it, but the option will be there.
