I received the Principal nomination from my congressman to go to USMA but was ultimately declined by the academy because my SATs weren't strong enough.
Overall, though...
my gpa is 3.6
plenty of leadership qualities (as said by my regional MALO)
no medical problems
and I am in fine enough shape for admittance

However, I am going to ASU on an ROCT scholarship (full-tuition) but i am not going to let USMA get out of my reach..

My question is, if I do well in college (3.6 gpa or better) and keep up on extra-curricular activities what are my chances of being admitted in after a year at ASU

If I prove myself in college does that overpower and standardized test that i didnt do good enough on in high school?

Thanks to anyone who can help. GO ARMY!

I think they will just keep having you retake it until it works out for you. You will not be able to escape the standardized test. If yot took the SAT, try the ACT... seriously, people tend to do better on one than they do on the other. As far as overall chances, AROTC will help and can get you another nomination, and great recommendations, plus when you re-apply, it shows your dedication. Main thing is keep your grades up and WORK WORK WORK on the test scores! Best of luck to you!

I had very strong SAT scores, but USMA still wants me to retake them.

Yes, if you prove yourself in college and improve they will love you. If not... not so good. Challenge yourself, but be careful. Do what you feel is most right for you, don't follow a formula someone gives you because it may not work for you. Do your best. As long as you do, I'm sure you'll be fine.
