I had way worse stats than you and got waitlisted, but then again I know there were some people on here with stellar stats who got flat out rejected. They say the "why oberlin" essay and I'm guessing expressing interest (I never interviewed, never visited) is key. Also, keep in mind I did regular decision so my chances were lower.

Use your "Why Oberlin" essay to convey your familiarity with what makes Oberlin special, express well-considered reasons why you want to go there, and convey what you believe you would contribute to the community. Your visit should help you to do that; do some research on the website and the web generally about Oberlin and its history -- you will like what you find.
Good luck!

Oh, I forgot to add... my class rank is 20ish out of 520ish.

All of your activities and enthusiasm for the school are in place.

But -- can you do anything to upgrade your ACT score? Or try the SAT's in fall? Have you taken prep courses or tutoring towards the tests?

That's the area to look to improve the strength of your application.

If you need more months to prepare for these standardized tests, check into Oberlin's ED-II option, which I believe has a January deadline.
