What do you think?

SAT: 2020
ACT: 31
GPA: 3.7 W/ 3.5 UW
Rank: top 30th percentile, school does not release rank due to the highly competitive atmosphere.
All of my courses, if not AP are honors.
AP course load: 2 last year (AP English Lang (5), and AP Biology (5)), 4 this year (AP Stat, AP Gov, AP Latin Vergil, and AP English Lit)
Location: Delaware
EC: Buddy Program (volunteer with mentally retarded children), science ambassador (go to local elm. school and help with science projects/tutor), and yearbook (since 10th grade).
Intended major: English/Int relations? Mostly undecided. haha/
Essays: written with honesty and I think they are good.
My high school is ranked #49 in the nation by a nationally published news magazine.
I also work about 15 hours a week and have held the same job for 2 years.

I’m also a member of NHS.

uhm…hello? 98 views and 0 responses? lol

I don’t really know enough about the whole process to say, and my experience is limited to having been through the process one time.

Your grades are somewhat lower and your SAT somewhat higher than my son, who was accepted ED. But I’m not sure what any of these numbers say about your chances. It really struck me as a very personalized process.

They did tell us that the interview is very important (my son actually enjoyed his), and that the rigor of your high school program is as well. (My son is a candidate for an IB diploma at his school.) I think the fact that you work is also a big plus. As for activities, they seemed more interested in a deep commitment to a few things than a lot of extracurriculars that don’t show much depth. So I would stress how long you have participated in those activities, and how much time you spend on them.

You look like a match. I’d be optimistic. 5 on APs in a science and in English will make admissions happy. Your EC’s are a little light, but feature good causes and makes complete sense because of the 15 hour job. Since you like your essays, just do a good interview and you’re set.

You have a decent chance.
Honestly, with lots of these “chances” threads, most of the people have fine SATs, APs, and grades. However, the subjective stuff (essays, LORs, and interviews) are what will get you in.
