What do you guys/gals use to stay sharp during those unavoidable times when you have to stay up during most of the night and study. Any special exercises/foods/drinks that help?

Don't say coffee and energy drinks like monster because those are the obvious.

My uncle told me about how back in the first gulf war, whenever he or his buddies had to pull late-night sentry duty, guys would either chew on coffee grounds or put tabasco sauce in their eyes in order to stay awake. I know what you're thinking "tabasco ***", but he told me that it doesn't hurt as much as you would think, keeps you alert, and the medics assured him that there were no lasting negative consequences.

It'll wake you up a bit. Any fruit can really wake you up. If I felt sleepy when staying up till 4AM finishing AP US History outlines, I would just pull an apple from a fridge and start cutting it up and eating it. One apple kept me pretty awake for the rest of the night.

I don't recommend milk though- that always tends to make me more sleepy.

And don't listen to soft music. I also recommend putting an alarm on every half hour to hour or so.

lol, whenever I need to pump myself up, like when there's a test during 1st period at school or I have a project that's due that day, I just listen to the song remember the name. haha, I get pumped up pretty easily afterwards, but it's usually only when I really feel competitive for something

every hour or so i put on a really energetic song like 'it's my life' by bon jovi, and i dance around my room like a maniac, it always works for me.

Exercise, or shower. Sometimes I just walk around the house a bit. Anything to get the blood moving and keep you from falling asleep at your desk.

have you ever tried zipfizz? That **** is awesome. Just pour some in a glass of water, drink it, and presto your set. They sell it at costco, at least here in hawaii. I recommend using only half a tube for like 12oz water
