<p>Again, all of those can be fruitfully examined philosophically. There is psychoanalysis, cognitive science, and philosophy of mind for psychology, and there is metaphysics, philosophy science, and quantum mechanics and philosophy for astronomy.</p>

<p>It does, and it is the philosophical foundation of those subjects that interests me. Unfortunately, society values practical knolwedge, which, in general, is quite different from abstract knowledge.</p>

<p>'Practical' in what sense? 'Practical' in that it earns money? Fortunately, most philosophy-majors are not in it for that. </p>

<p>We are free beings. What society deems valuable should not control what you, as an individual, consider fulfilling and worthy.</p>

<p>Philosophy does not prevent one from attaining a job; it does, however, pose a significant impediment to getting a high-paying job. But since when does a high-paying job in today's environment come to those who have only obtained a BA or BS?</p>

<p>If you care about money, then go to law school after you have your BA. I personally think law is the best application of the skills honed in philosophical studies.</p>
