I haven't heard much about this school--good or a bad thing? I've been highly interested in UChicago, but Depaul has caught my eye. The reason I found Depaul, is that I'm looking for good universities with strong music programs. From what I've read and seen in their website, Depaul looks really nice. I'm just not sure if they're academically acclaimed... if those are the right words.

I don't know. I haven't heard of Depaul that much, and I want to know your thoughts. Thanks!

Maybe i will be speaking from a biased point, as i will be a freshman in Depaul, but depaul i think is a good school because of the small class sizes, the diverse populations, dedicated staff and overall its in the city and probably won't be as expensive as UCHICAGO. It all depends if you like the small sizes vs larger ones, and the campus isn't too big so it isn't hard to nagivate. good luck in your college search!

DePaul is nice, but it isn't the best of the best. In many classes I've taken there, the average test score for the midterm is a "B"--in one class the average was 55%! University of Chicago is one of the best schools in the country academically(Fiske guide says it's less selective than the Ivies, but just as good), but someone told me "it sucks in your soul," meaning their students lack social skills. DePaul, on the other hand, is very social, and even though I'm a high school student, all kinds of people have been very nice to me there.

I don't know how great the music program is at DePaul (sorry!), but hopefully I helped a little. But remember that DePaul is much better than UChicago socially, and UChicago is much better academically.

i personally think depaul is a great school with great campuses in an awesome parts of the city i will be applying there, and if accepted would seriously consider depaul because i have heard good things + the location is fantastic..i really like chicago and i really like depaul from what i know of its business program i dont know much about the music program..but yeah the classes are pretty small and there is a small core but its different for whatever major your in
