What does a grade of "W" mean on my transcript?

<p>I'm sorry if someone have already posted this.</p>

<p>What is a W? Does it mean I have already failed the class or I didn't complete it?
I have three W's on my transcript and I don't know if it will affect my GPA and further classes that I might take. I was hoping that I can re-take the classes and get a better grade to replace the "W". What if I got an F, does that mean I can't re-take? It's already my 2nd year in college, and I'm messing things up for myself. I feel kinda dumb right now..Will it be too late to start working hard now?

<p>A W on your transcript shows that you withdrew from that course. At my college, it only appears if you do not “drop” the class in the first few week, but you do drop it before completion.</p>

Does it mean now I will receive an F?</p>
