Hello! I applied to Princeton through QuestBridge, and decisions are being released on the 1st of December. Yesterday, they contacted my counselor to ask for my first quarter grades. This was not an application requirement. I asked around the Questbridge page, and only know of one other person who received this request. I’m glad that they’re considering me, but am also wondering if this means that they are on the fence. If anyone knows anything about the implications of this situation, please let me know!
I have no special insight, but I would guess it means they are considering your application carefully and want to make sure your senior year grades are strong. Therefore I would interpret it as a positive sign that you are being seriously considered.
I agree, I believe they are probably just looking at the rigor of your course load to push you over the edge or not. That’s really cool that they invested specific interest in you in order to see if you’re worthy or not. Hope everything goes well!
Question: If I am applying early, do I need to submit first quarter and trimester grades from my senior year in high school?
Answer: Yes, if possible, please ask your college counselor to submit any senior grades if your high school has them available.
My guess is that your HS counselor was contacted because he/she did not automatically know to send the first quarter grades when other counselors submitted them without being asked.
@happy1 Thank you for your input! However, I am not an early decision applicant, but a Questbridge applicant, and on the Questbridge checklist it says that only Midyear reports are required. I know of one other Questbridge applicant who has gotten the request. I’ve asked some other Questbridge applicants, and they have not submitted first quarter grades, nor received requests for them.
